Why are the British and Australian cartoonists so much better than America's?? (Asymmetrical decline of print media is partly responsible, but that doesn't fully explain it.)

As night falls half a world away, grey lumbering clouds form across the Melbourne skyline. The forecasts gave no warning for it, this storm appeared as if called by magic. Winds howl through the streets, rain falls, and the heavens crackle with lightning. A bolt from the heavens strikes the earth in a graveyard. Dirt flies from the explosion. Another looses to the same point, and the wood of a coffin is destroyed. A third thunderous streak hits the same point, finding its mark in a decaying, rotting form, long since buried. But even now, empty eyes open, seeing without seeing. There is no soul there any more, no earthly desires. Only a need. A need to spread his craft, to show the world again, to show those who have forgotten him. The gravestone, flung from the earth, lies at the foot of a lamppost. Written upon it, a simple epitaph: "Here lies a cartoonist" "Righto, whats his name then?"

Theres 5 ways to use labels: normal, rare, legendary, "epic and exotic", "looks like four" and historic.
