Nail Rat posted:It's his wedding, not hers. He did some other poo poo things but if he wants his stepmom at his wedding, his mom should respect that. She's clearly also part of his life. It's part of the whole divorce thing that your kids will be interacting with step parents eventually. I don't think that his mom really said that she was asking dad's mistress not to come, just that she may not come herself. Which is understandable, that would be really hard to deal with. It's an awkward situation, but if she thought there was a real chance she couldn't stand going, warning her son she might not be there is appropriate. As an aside, if I found out my dad cheated on my mom and was going to stay with his mistress, I probably wouldn't talk to him for a long while. This guy completely ignoring the severity of it is kind of telling.

I lost my Mom young and received a pretty sizable inheritance as a result. There isn't a day that goes by that I wouldn't exchange all that money and more for even one more hour of time with her. The poster who stayed "neutral" sounds like a selfish loving rear end in a top hat and I wish he could inherit cancer instead of nothing as a consequence of the way he treated his Mom. Just because your parents get divorced doesn't mean you can't love both deeply and sympathize with the complicated way in which they relate to one another.

I know I shouldn't be, but I am constantly amazed at people who do something like spend $45,000 on a horse, and then not bother to actually get a contract for its boarding, or pay some sort of horse attorney $500 for a consultation about its damages.

^^ football is a loving cult in america. GWM if you're a curufinor posted:bwm wh40k I had a friend a decade ago who had poor impulse control and got into warhammer classic on a whim. He easily dropped a grand or more on a couple box sets, a bunch of special characters (including some zombie dragons that cost a couple hundred bucks), rule books, etc. Dude had a few thousand points worth of minis (which as I understand it is mostly useless, since you can only use 1500 points at a time or something) that ended up in a box and were never used after his wow addiction caused him to drop out of college. This was all done as a student so it's not like he had much money to spare, warcraft also cost him his job/girlfriend, and he didn't believe in locking up his bicycles so he had more than one stolen. Stealthgerbil posted:i feel like the fancier the horse, the greater the chance its just going to randomly going to die in a stupid way. This is 100% true, but is more due to the fact that expensive horses tend to be larger (more weight = more injuries), bred for looks or speed over soundness, heavily inbred, and are cooped up in a stall or small paddock where they are likely to go stir crazy instead of in a field somewhere where they can run around like a loon to their hearts' content. Million-dollar racehorses and fancy European dancy-horses are lucky to make it through their 20s, but cheap backyard bred ponies basically live forever. There's a Shetland at the barn I grew up riding at who was the riding instructor's first pony, and the instructor was in her 30s. I haven't ridden there in over 10 years but he's apparently still toting little kids around. His little face has gone gray All equines are BWM though. Ponies living longer just means they can drain money from you for 40+ years instead of 25.

No athletic department would ever explicitly instruct them to do so, if only for fear of liability, but its not unreasonable to assume that's the intent of the whole process.

UC-Boulder had the most thoroughly investigated incident in recentish memory (Simpson), featuring the clubhouse leader for scummiest head coach of all time until JoePa took over. My understanding is that most schools implemented a more rigorous "campus ambassadors during official visits are not university-provided fuckbuddies" protocol in the aftermath. There are fascinating and distressing racial and sexual politics interwoven into this whole dynamic, but towards the thread topic: Hugh Freeze: BWM, lost his job for paying escorts Bret Bielema: GWM, hooked up with students, costing only his dignity Bo Ryan: BWM, cost himself his job and nearly his marriage Rick Pitino: GWM, used university funds and had a fall guy. I looked on the Warhammer reddits to find threads about how much people have spent lifetime on Warhammer stuff. One guy said he estimates about $20k but that's been over the course of like 20 years and $1k/yr on hobbies doesn't seem that weird if you can afford it. But the real winner is that I also saw someone painted a warhams to look like Buzz Lightyear. https://imgur.com/a/R5wGY
