72m isn't bad but Pool could definitely hold out for more. As much as I'd rather not lose Coutinho, if someone came along offering 100m+ for him, it's hard to see a valid reason not to take it.

Reading offered £1m for Mo Barrow and then laughed when they saw what we're paying him.

I know that transfer money is out of control but in what world could Coutinho possibly be worth 100m?

With transfer money out of control, what the gently caress do you then spend that 100m on? He's our talisman, 5 years on his contract, no release clause. Neymar is about to be sold for his 222m euro clause by the way (seriously).

We have depth in the form of Lallana and Firmino that could slot in to Coutinhos preferred central role. IF Barca want to drop £100m, then have at it, honestly feel like a midfield of Can, Henderson and Lallana could feed a front line of Salah, Firmino and Mane well enough.

Lol Neymars contract could include a £45m signing bonus and £459k a week wages. Football is dumb.

Its odd to think in 2002(?) That we though the fee paid for Ferdinand was ridiculous. Now Kyle Walker went for double that.

I read a thing today about inflation in transfer fees and how, proportionally, Shevchenko is/was the most expensive transfer ever in the Premier League. Ferdinand was roughly similar. Both would have been about £150M in today's money, given the rate of increase in average transfer fees.

Honestly if Barca came in and gave us £100m+ (and I don't think we would even think of selling below that figure) then fine because we can probably replace him (both within the squad and through transfers) for that amount. He's not as important as Suarez was.
