I strongly dispute this. A single artist could whip up the assets in Candy Crush in a week, if they were lazy... And took a day off.

Hence why Sprey (who was only nominally involved with both the hog and the viper) loves to get so uppety about the F-35.

The SALT is placed in a procedurally generated landscape made by my proprietary "Smarty Terrain" generator, which is of course set to "Milford Sound, NZ" for best results.

Derek, if you'd like to license my terrain generation middleware just let me know. If anyone else wants in on this groundbreakingly fidelitous game project, a SALT can be bought for just $100, and if you'd like it in black you can just buy six of them. The Ramparp spaceships pictured are also priced to sell at just $45 a piece, but for a limited time only! Remember, they're one use only, as well, so you'd better stock up!

Generally speaking one should avoid games that have no reviews on both metacritic and steam. Never a good sign that there's no one reviewing a game at all.

Bulk 100 "dreams" for only $9.95 (while supplies last)

Ever since kickstarter started, I've wondered about the direction that it'll move in. Very quickly we saw the supporting industries start up like backerkit, but everyone wants to be sat in the middle collecting 15%.

Curiously this crosses over into 'The Collapsing Empire' in a vaguely amusing way, but the concept of collecting a subscription isn't entirely new, it's just new to pre-ordering. This is kind of important because the rules of commerce work on a tangible changing hands for cash. All this bollocks is intended to make the concept of the tangible somewhat more fluid what with the various instruments for 'realizing value'.

I swing then back to the whole concept of silver dollars being an attempt to lever cash out of people based on a) the spot price of silver. b) the concept of higher valuation in the future. Neither are the _actual_ value, which is how much you can get out of someone for the item.

So now we have a site that is dedicated to freeing up the developer from the difficult problem of promoting their _crowdfunded_ games. I smell another, scammier Desura in the making.

Edit: You know, this CCU stuff could get them into trouble. They're loving around with other people's money here.

Good point!

I never considered the number of companies who would want to be the collection agency. Being the middle man just lets you syphon in the money without really caring about the completion of the project.

In "successful" ideas like Star Citizen, completing is basically akin to turning off the flow of money. There is no incentive for the project to complete.

This is sort of where Kickstarter was good, because it stopped your funding and it also has stipulations about a released product if I recall.

Stuff like this is basically the poo poo tier drug dealers, trying to get people hooked on something so they keep collecting money.

I bet there will be a merge of internet marketing groups and these endless funding pages that will be designed for marketing your product, giving you "users" to post in forums to stir attention, and "help" you collect money for your project while they take a healthy, probably tiered, bounty off the top. If your project goes south, oh well. They just close shop, maybe have some kind of evacuation plan for you, and leave you to sifting through the remains while they keep their money squared away.

This is just evil computer science and I hope the developers using these services feel just as bad as the developers knowingly creating the services. :(

You'd be better off putting pornhub on your resume than a scam system. :(

Actually, I can totally see them doing that. In fact, I would probably go one further and say I could see them releasing a 3.0 which not only doesn't have space to planet transitions but also has 'moons' where you can't explore the full surface of the sphere.

I can almost hear Chris's voice saying it now...

'We've uh, still got some blockers on the uh, procedural planetary tech which we're uh,still trying to get ironed out but I don't want to keep the backers waiting any longer so we've uh, decided to give you some landing zones to explore, *rapturous applause* j-ju-just as a taste while we're smashing these bugs that allow us to deliver the full planets. So uh, have fun in these zones for now and we'll release the full planets in a month or so.'

Of course the full planets never come.
