I just now listened to the May mailbag and the story of Eric handing the change back to a clerk three times in a 7-11 while hosed up had me dying, goddamn.

Mailbags are now my go-to way to introduce friends and family to the show. Gives them a good feel for the camaraderie and comedy, and a series of 5-10 minute mostly-self-contained bits are easier to pitch than 90+ minute episodes. If they dig it then I link them to the website so they can see the variety of genres that get covered, and pick their own first full episode.

Introductory Mailbag should be The GameMaster one because all the stories are incredibly insane I'd also recommend the Long John Silver Prom Night Movie Night extravaganza but I think that's the one with the super cringy in the bad way stdh story about yelling at old ladies Calaveron fucked around with this message at 16:40 on Jul 24, 2017 |

Best mailbag story is either the Eric "try it old man!" confrontation, or witnessing the dude lean on his wife for support as he cut a huge fart.

Speaking of mail bag, Andrew going full magic flute voice with his Oh my goOoOodd at the revelation of the guy jerking off to Encino Man in the theater during the most recent one killed me and now I'm dead and a ghost

The best mailbag was from two years ago and had the trifecta of Kid walking in on Dad watching porn, Kid watching the same nude scene in King Arthur movie in the school library for a week, and teacher who dedicated an entire week to Japanese foot binding. She's dangling and she don't even know it!

I liked the one with the workout freak who critiqued Luca Brasi's tomato sauce recipe during the Godfather and then left the theater to get broken up with by his girlfriend before driving off to Sister Christian.

The mailbags are really funny but it's also cemented that as funny as I find these dudes I would never want to actually hang out with them because their lives are a cavalcade of Lynchian nightmare tableaus and a thirst for confrontation that the tallest glasses of water can't quench.

Hahaha holy poo poo. Steve's tales of horror, embarrassment, and despair are absolutely the best thing about the podcast. I think about "yeah, you better run, fat boy" once a week at least. It's not even schaudenfreude or anything. He's just got the bestest stories.
