Been playing Ace Combat 4 today, I guess I'm already close to the end. It feels really really good but I'm looking forward to playing the newer ones with analog triggers that aren't R1/L1

Ace Combat 4's ironically probably the weakest game in the franchise. AC5 and 0 are really good though.

The only other one I've played was 2, which, while enjoyable as a arcade shooter, got old pretty quick. The mission design in 4 is generally pretty great, except for the occasional overly long score attack mission

What do you think is the best Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game on NES, and in general? I go with Manhattan Project, but the arcade ports on NES and SNES are cool too! Hyperstone Heist on Genesis looks pretty cool, haven't played that one. And how cool is T&C Surf Designs: Wood & Water rage? Best skateboard game ever I believe. al-azad posted:Herzog Zwei and General Chaos (genesis) and Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES or Genesis) are my personal favorites. Loved General Chaos! Genesis does what Ninten...also does? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-jhSjft_lM Old as hell but I never knew about it before. Janky as gently caress and good god that music and sound, but visually it looks a lot better than I would have expected. Makes me curious about what a theoretical effort port of SMW to Genesis could have been like.

Hyperstone Heist is cool because it's basically a compilation of the two arcade games (i.e. what Turtles II for the NES and Turtles in Time were based off of).

While we're at this, what cool 4 player SNES/SFC games are there? I've got Super Bomberman 1, 3, and 5, and NBA Jam TE, what else should I force my friends to play with me anytime I've somehow convinced enough of them to hang out with me?

The Peace Keepers immediately sticks out as a good one. The NHL games are fun with several players. Turn off icing and offsides and have at it. NHL 96 and 97 have fighting. Also Street Hockey 95 might be the worst sports game on the console.

Aside from the title and treasure room themes, which are direct copies of Hal Canon's work for the arcade original, it's an incredible soundtrack. (Also, whoops, I meant "Sakimoto" in my last post, not "Sakamoto")

Wow, I had no idea N64 PCBs were so tiny. What a waste of space in the carts. I mean, NES had the same issue too, but still. I think I'm more interested in the SuperCD games you have in the background, what are they? al-azad posted:Gauntlet 4 is too good for Gauntlet. I read somewhere that this was the first M2 game. The founders (a couple Japanese guys) programmed a prototype on their X68000s and they consulted with Atari/Tengen to finish it. Is this how Tengen normally operated? Not usually, no, but there was a streak of Tengen MD games around that period that are all high-quality conversions: Gauntlet, Marble Madness, Slap Fight and Grind Stormer/V-V (which isn't a great port in actuality but it's as good as can be expected for the hardware). They also did a Game Gear game or two and some PCE games that may or may not have been officially released. As mentioned above, Gauntlet 4 was the first game from M2, the retro specialist studio that does Sega 3D Classics and various Virtual Console emulators; they made the vast majority of the game on their own as students and they even designed the 4-player multi-tap that Sega released as the Team Player/Sega Tap - their original plan was to include the hardware schematic in the manual so people could build their own adapter, X68000-style, but Sega said no and instead offered to make it an official product. (They were also planning on some sort of LAN hookup using the Japanese MD modem but Sega said no to that as well.)
