It's pretty cool; it splits the resource generation between players but you can give away resources to whoever without penalty, including automatically giving all of your resource income to someone else. Yeah, it's pretty fun and the game moves faster with having to issue less orders.

It's honestly an incredibly lovely situation that shines a light on the many flaws of the current DMCA system but that's not news to anyone aware of what's been happening. edit; also according to an article linked on that tweet, the Star Mazer people did a similar thing ditching the soundtrack that Alex Mauer worked on and they still wound up dealing with DMCA claims by her, so it's up in the air whether doing so will even extricate themselves from this quagmire.
