I need to read that series. Maybe I'll get to it next after I finish Kyouran Kazoku. Man, just like Spiral, the anime stops right before the best arcs start. I'd love a second season of KKN, kinda like they're reviving Kino's Journey now.

I just started watching the first season of Symphogear a week or so ago. Six episodes in, and I'm already kicking myself for not having watched it sooner.Space Flower posted:Nanoha A's and beyond have big enough casts to be interesting on a per-ep basis but season one relies on two girls for nearly the whole show and one of them is a standard magical-girl protag throughout so there's not a lot it shakes up. in comparison to like, Symphogeah, I think the latter is way more viscerally expressive even before you factor in how it uses songs to add another layer of storytelling onto what's already happening onscreen. I believe Nanoha was the first magical girl shows that was consciously made with an older audience in mind. It was at least the first one do do so successfully. I can't remember any other magical girl show doing so. I feel like the large casts of the later shows were actually a detriment. They ended up having too many people and not enough time, and some characters ended up being pushed into the background. Nanoha's first season struggled because it was almost like they didn't know what they wanted to do with the series, so it meanders a bit before focusing in on the relationship between the two girls. The movie fixes that and is awesome and probably one of my favorite anime movies. No one should watch Nanoha S1 anymore, now that the movie exists. But for a spinoff based on a side-character in a porn game no one remembers drat did Nanoha go far.

I almost want to count Devil Hunter Yohko because it was the first real anime I ever saw. Way back in 199-whenever, I bought Devil Hunter Yohko on VHS because I thought it would be like Sailor Moon. I wasn't prepared for how different it was and it kind of blew me away. I showed it to some of my friends, and during the motel scene, one of them jumped in front of the screen and started yelling to stop the tape. Kinda out of the blue, but does anyone have internal contacts at Crunchyroll? They had a contest to translate Wonder Beat S back in 2009 and I'm curious if there's any point in trying to follow up on that now. I would love to translate that series so it doesn't just fade away (it's already pretty hard/expensive to find in Japan), and it'd be nice if I could get the scripts to work with.

yeah when production iggy was running out of the ben franks they pulled out of their own pockets to make gits. they emptied out the penny jar and created cromartie. the robot was designed by putting the penny jar through a reverse 3d printer. truly BUDGET KINO

every anime studio starts out with one billion dollars. these are their anime budgets dollars and they are allowed to spend them however they wish but they will not get another one billion dollars until the next year. historically, all short anime has come from the leftovers of an anime studio's yearly billion dollars

I'm certain that they, like Sunrise, have several Sub -divisions / -Studios (Like how Studios 1, 2 and 3 handle most of the Gundam shows, Gintama was handled by Studio 5 before Bandai Namco Pictures became a thing and Studio 8 handles Love Live), so yes, it is very unlikely that the same division/studio that handled GITS:SAC were the same that the Cromartie dudes.
