Jim Belushi can be a very decent character actor, he was pretty good in Show Me a Hero a couple of years back.

One of his good "serious" film roles was as the lead in "The Principal" with Lou Gosset Jr. who he held his own against, so yeah he's a decent actor when he's not trying so hard to be funny.

This also makes Lynch's comment about sending him to the Principal's office even funnier.

He looks pretty good for his age. I think that his haggard appearance is mostly make up/lighting and meant to reflect 25 years of enforcing the law in a town with a raging underground drug trade, cars full of screaming barfchildren, and his own terrible family. Plus, guys with long faces just tend to age like that sometimes.

Although now that you mention it, assuming Bobby was meant to be about 19 during the original show, that would make him... only about 44? He looks good to me, but I have to admit that's a hard 44. I guess he's just had a stressful life?

Yeah, I've heard that too. White hair can really gently caress with people's perception of age.

On that note, of all the age-70+ actors returning, I think Ben Horne has aged the most gracefully. He has more brown hair than Bobby.

Does anyone else find it significant that Diane said she saw a woodsman exiting the police car, but we see that scene from her perspective, and we only ever see the woodsman approaching the car--never leaving? Why would she add that little twist? Unless we're supposed to assume that she saw him leave during one of the reaction shots, but it seemed deliberate to me.

I don't know about morse code, but I really liked this about the scene--tied the whole thing together emotionally.

On another note, I thought it was fantastic that Hawk said that the fire emblem/energy depends heavily on intent.

I loved listening to this, but goddamn, this was from an audiobook? Was it recorded in a room with the audiobook playing? That sounds like poo poo, so I'm assuming that it's someone just recording the recording.

This may be blasphemous in the Twin Peaks thread, but perhaps we've had enough Dougie Cooper, and it's now time for good ol' regular Coop, and HE'S the one that kills bad Coop.

Or the moment that Dougie manages to somehow kill bad Coop, then good Coop is then made whole and is 'back'. I'd be fine with that, provided that it doesn't happen 15 minutes from the end of the season.

Then good Coop helps Truman and Hawk take down whatever force is cutting peoples' heads in half :clint:

I think Dougie's storyline is almost wrapped up. He doesn't have money trouble, there are no assassins chasing him, and he successfully resolved the insurance scam. Cooper is returning in either the next episode or the one after that because there is not much else that can happen in Vegas.

After rewatching episode 3, I'm not even sure if Coop is physically capable of returning to normal. He re-entered this world as a fizzing black cloud that dissolved out of an electrical outlet — whatever old Coop's brain was like, I can't imagine that the brain of the body that emerged from that cloud is wired or assembled the same way at all.

Dougie Coop would fit perfectly into Twin Peaks' community. Just sitting in the Double R, drinking coffee, eating pie, and parroting things back. Not any weirder than the log lady or the paranormal alien finding future seeing Air Force Col.

Dougie-Coop is retarded because he is lacking something that's in Bad-Coop. The 2 wanst supposed to be in the world at the same time, but Bad-Coop created Dougie to be sucked back to the Black Lodge in his place.

So Coop comes to the world but his soul or personhood or whatever is still stuck inside Bad-Coop, so he is empty. He cant be back to normal while Bad Coop is still in the world.

And Bad Coop is a hard mutherfucker with ressurection abilities, and the main villain, so I dont think he is going anywhere before the last episode. So yeah, to me it looks like we are stuck with Dougie til the end

Then why did MIKE tell Coop to wake up? If it's impossible before the doppelganger is dead, that seems kind of nonsensical.

There's shots from the trailer of Coop driving and walking into shadows so he's probably going to wake up at some point, or it could be evil coop in disguise but I'm pretty sure evil coop's face is a lot more leathery.

The trailer opens with this shot of the staircase and electricity crackling. I don't think it's the staircase in the Palmer house, this seems like the one the bearded men were standing in front of.
