Feeling cheated by the lack of grisly deaths in Lost Village I looked up a recommendation list of Japanese horror novels and grabbed the novel at the top of the list on Kindle.

Turns out it's written by the guy who did Another. I'm still on it's palm! I never left!!

Although to be fair the book seems good and one thing Another had was good gory deaths so I'm very hopeful.

Wait, wasn't Lost Village an original joint by Mari Okada?

Yes, I have spent the whole day so far struggling in the strange web of Japanese horror that all appears to be interconnected.

Ok, here's a thing for you: Yukito Ayatsuji (author of Another) is married to Fuyumi Ono, who wrote Shiki, Ghost Hunt and TWELVE KINGDOMS. All her novels are pretty cool. Enjoy!

He also organized a Japanese horror writer society and has an RPG based off of one of his murder mystery series. He's a cool guy with a cool wife.

Whoever decided what Hell Girl really needed was a shrill annoying bossy weird looking little girl thrown in the mix was wrong.

Maybe not having seen seasons 2 and 3 isn't such a bad thing after all.
