Pretty sure the dude behind the counter is the one shooting there.

Was he? I'll have to rewatch it when I get home to see what details I missed; I figured the owner was in on things as he didn't look like he cowered to the officer, never spoke to him in German and looked like he generally resented the guy (and also why else would we just wander into some random diner that was about to close).

I'm guessing that the diner owner was who BJ was supposed to meet up with but then the nazi walked in and derailed it

The guy behind the counter is part of the resistance, he's the guy going on about space aliens in this video. Even wearing the same turtleneck.

Can we talk about the fact that BJ is just strolling through the city with an atomic bomb disguised as a fire extinguisher?

But der Führer ist ein großer Autor und Maler - how could he not be alive? Watching that again I see that yes, it is likely the guy behind the counter who draws first. He has his eyes on the officer for the entire conversation and then as the officer reaches for his gun at the end you can see turtle neck guy go for something just out of your peripheral vision. I guess BJ will need to find someone else to beat to death. Doesn't look like the place was short on targets though!

BJ, you've gotten old if it took you that long to grab something sharp and throw it through his skull.

It's 1961, Hitler was born in 1889. Even without crazy Wolfenstein Nazi tech it wouldn't be weird for him to be alive.

MachineGames' writing is miles ahead of most AAA games but I hope they don't go overboard with all the scripted events and stop and talk sections like the Milkshake Nazi/Frau Engel's train scene/Helga's interrogation (people loved the train one and they're really going with it aren't they) or the incinerator room, underwater Jewish tech cache thingamabobs and such. The best areas of these games for me were the semi-open ended levels where you approach sections your way while you hear BJ's depressive/occasionally tough guy monologues and sometimes get contacted by one of his allies. When they start going heavily into the Half-Life 2/Call of Duty/modern video game route where you're locked into linear events I start falling asleep, much more so during replays where you can do nothing except run/look around the room waiting for characters to shut up and do their thing so you can move on. There was so much raving about the writing once TNO came out and mentions about how the gameplay dragged it down that I'm still slightly cautious until release that the cutscene to gameplay ratio isn't heavily skewed towards the former.

We actually kill Hitler repeatedly in Wolf3D, he just won't stay down... But after that he's never heard from or seen again so that's why people are curious. Also a certain flub from a voice actor in the game also spoiled a bit of the surprise.

Rock Paper Shotgun has a new article on the Roswell level they tried. Some highlights are: RPS posted:“We had this idea that the Nazis would paint BJ as public enemy number one,” explains Jens Matthies, creative director. “There would be posters of him everywhere, he would be this terrorist threat that they could use to scare people, galvanise them against the resistance. They call him Terror Billy, right? And so we explained that to the marketing department, and they had this idea: well, what if we make him a physical action figure? And we said: how does that make sense – they wouldn’t make one for their enemy, right? Well yeah – but they would if he was the enemy as part of a larger set of heroes. And so their version of GI Joe is Elite Hans, and the villain, the Skeletor of that toy set is BJ Blazkowicz. And we said: yeah, that’s super-cool – we can put that in the game! It became this virtuous cycle of cool stuff.” RPS posted:Outside a gas station, an officer berates cowed Ku Klux Klan members about their German pronunciation. A local girl moons over a guard, only to get herself into hot water when she sneers at the Fuhrer’s native Austria. Newspapers carry quotes lambasting the press as a cancer, and housewives chat enthusiastically about the revival of slavery. RPS posted:we can’t do this in the first game, just in a level where BJ goes to the US, because it’s too big and it’s too significant for him, to have his mortal enemy take over his homeland. This needs its own game. So we were always building towards it – if we had the opportunity to do a sequel, that’s where we’re going to go.

https://bethesda.net/en/article/4KgYy6Fd2gEOeumkGekwgy/wolfenstein-ii-the-freedom-chronicles-season-pass-and-pre-order Wolfenstein 2 is going to have DLC/a season pass. It's for more single player content. Three different stories where you play as three different new characters fighting nazis to free America. And if you pre-order the game (or buy the season pass), you get an "Episode Zero" dlc that introduces you to the three DLC characters.
