To this day British tanks have a hot water dispenser for the specific purpose of brewing tea. In the second world war, tank crews had to leave the vehicle and use makeshift kettles from salvage to make tea, which they did pretty much any time the tank stopped, which led to more than a few cases of tank units being wiped out in an ambush because they were out of the tanks making tea. British soldiers were literally dying for a cuppa.

Guildenstern Mother posted:Technically she said eat not drink. Tea and coffee are hallmarks of law and civilization. There's a lore card on his Patreon. Essentially, a Petal Knight is an Angel that's given up completely on the Law and has embraced their own desires, darkening their soul flames from white to black in the process. Usually in this lovely world their desires are "I love to murder and get paid for it!" and thus all the other Angels hate them, but unlike Thorn Knights they're not 100% made up of assholes; some just want to chill and enjoy themselves. Also for some reason every one of them we've seen has been remarkably feminine-looking. The one in the lore card has some pretty nice hips.

Ys was ostensibly a woman, so if their flame is changing from white to black, I guess it would make sense that they would resemble something more feminine. Then again, White Chain looks pretty feminine too outside of her armor, and her flame is still white...ish.

I think that White Chain's problem is that she says she cares about law, but what really matters to her is justice, which is something that most angels and the universe at large doesn't really give a crap about.

Eh, true, but then again human dudes look like dudes in the Void. I think Abaddon just likes to draw feminine lads. Also, I like the art evolution from Delicious to this new fellow. Delicious was basically a stony angel but with more cracks and a sick bola-like growth, but this guy or gal has a gnarly organic look to them.

do petal knights actually have their soul flame go black or is that a figure of speech? i thought that altering the basic nature of your or anybody else's soul flame was the purview of the as-far-as-the-universe-at-large-knows sheerly theoretical black art

Looking at our four-armed bully friend here, the flame looks to be as blue-white as usual for angels; not black. So, figure of speech I'd guess.

On the other hand it might put White Chain "darkening" into a different perspective.
|
# ? Jul 24, 2017 19:34 |

One reason for why the petal knights tend to seem more feminine might simply be because of how masc-normative The Law and its adherents are. If you're constantly given the impression you're an "affront" to the Law, it seems likely you'd become disillusioned a lot faster than a more masculine angel would.

It's even mentioned in the lore card that the Petals say they're proof the Flame Immortal can change, although that's disputed by the Root Knights.

# ? Jul 25, 2017 08:26 |

Isn't color also based on how long the angel has been incarnated for (between revivals that change the number.)? Like juggernaut is igneous so rather firey while white chain is liquid and thus more watery? I think delicious was vaporous.
