what's up with the editing? They clearly cut some stuff in the middle with the orb. I spent like 30 minutes re-listening because I was sure I'd missed something but nope they just cut out part of the game.

It was already a long episode. Editing anything like roleplay is difficult, smoothing over cuts especially. I got a lotta thoughts about how Matt felt but I'm on my phone and nobody wants 500 words about dice games in this thread. Instead, please read this piece about the new Gorka who just joined the White House here.

Call of Cthulhu is a groundbreaking game, but it accidentally normalized some bad habits that it and other games have tried to discourage since then--like investigation grinding to a halt because the players fail their research checks, and scenarios (especially combat) being almost impossibly deadly.
