SFTP are hometown heroes for me but I couldn't even get past the opening line of that song: "you just got knocked the gently caress out" ok guys we get it, you wish you were RATM. Hang it up.

e: Just so I don't sound like a 100% huge piece of poo poo about everything all the time, there was a period where I was jamming Rising Sun like it was the best thing produced by instruments. loving love that record and it made me fall in love with vocalists going "BLEGH!" I have a theory that when SFTP went on tour with The Acacia Strain, those started to rub off on Vincent, since that's around the time he started incorporating that into TAS music. I think it was around the time of Death is the Only Mortal. You don't hear it much on Wormwood but it's prominent in almost every song on DITOM

I'd say Above/Below are the two most blatant BLEGH!fests by TAS. NOT a bad thing. Those songs go.

Vincent lost a fuckton of weight and looks way healthier now.

This song came up on my Spotify Discover Weekly and falls in line with that singy/screamy Memphis May Fire vibe that really clicks for me for whatever reason:

Accurate.

The new Oceans Ate Alaska is also out today. And while my jury is still out on this new vocalist's cleans, the album overall is a monster. The first minute of Deadweight is like one of the most exciting minutes of music I've heard this year.

Yeah, I've been pretty lukewarm about ABR for the last few years (they're really good musicians, but so many songs sound exactly alike), but this new single has my hopes up.

I had to look up the track listing to remember what songs were on that album beside Ghosts, Broken Promises, and Blackwood. Besides those songs (actually including Blackwood outside the intro), everything else on that album ran together. It was good, but almost every track had a long interlude.

Also, check out the new Make Them Suffer album released today. I'm digging it.

Yeah the one complaint I had about it was you could say it was "Weird musical interludes, the album" and be 100% accurate. I loved it anyway, especially the track with the guy from A Day to Remember (I think that was Ghosts)

Bruh, go back for their debut if you slept. It's insane. Better vocalist than the new one, by most accounts. Play the intro to "High Horse" and be instantly sold…

Yep, that's Ghosts. It's an all-time ABR favorite of mine. As for the interludes, it was frustrating to have almost every song keep building momentum and then fall off a cliff at interludes.

And here's a link to Make Them Suffer's first single from the new album since I was at work for my last post:

So today I learned that up until 2014, Joe Cocchi from Within the Ruins was playing a 6-string in drop G tuning, AKA literally a full 5th down on each string (technically a 7th down on the low E), which is loving INSANE. He switched to a 7-string, but keeps the same tuning scheme, and as a result he is literally using 2 mid-range bass strings (.100 and .085) on the low end. That dude is NOT loving around. I think the lowest 6-string tuning I've heard aside from them is maybe drop B? Most of the metalcore bands these days seem to have settled on drop C/C#, or maybe C# standard.

I don't know what it is, but Born of Osiris's The Eternal Reign is clicking with me a lot lately after initially hating it.

I think a song came on some smart playlist Spotify threw at me after an album I was listening to ended and I've just been jamming the whole album a bunch.
