i still love this season but i am mad about that audrey scene

For all the anticipation, the return of Audrey was pretty unimpressive. Also, Audrey is apparently still living in Twin Peaks, and as far as we can tell not in hiding or anything. So how come, as (presumably) Richard's mother, she hasn't been at all informed by anyone of Richard killing a kid, assaulting a witness, and violently robbing his grandmother? Maybe nobody in the Horne family actually talks to each other anymore?

It's weird to me that people are surprised at Ben not being lovely anymore. The last time we saw him his story was specifically him trying to be a good person from now on. Why's it so hard to believe that he managed to do it?

Also lol @ only marrying a little person if weeeeiird poo poo has happened to you. gently caress outta here.

Edit: Jesus Christ you doubled down on it since I wrote my post. You think that an attractive person can't marry someone with a physical disability unless there's something hosed up with them? Do you think it's "out of the norm" for white people to marry minorities in America and therefore only the result of something being wrong?

Audrey doing something out of the norm (what a shocker) doesn't mean that something wrong and weird preceded it. It's really that simple.

Yeah I hated episode 10 too and the whole casino thing but then was loving it in the next episode. So hopefully next ep has a similar deal with Audrey.

i don't think being of a more prominent minority, i.e. of another race, is the same as being a midget or having a significant disability. you seem to be confusing my statement that it's aberrant with the idea that it's morally repugnant, which is not something i said. people can do what they like on this front, but until i see more i'm going to assume there's something a little odd at work because it is quite a long way outside societal norms.

I also think these episodes will improve greatly in hindsight. I feel like a lot of people forget that we truly are *only* two-thirds of the way through this thing. There is still 6 more hours of Twin Peaks. In running time, it's about the equivalent of the entirety of TP Season 1 - just this final third of the show.

I'm in no rush to get "answers" - I don't even want them unless they lead to even more interesting questions. I liked this episode because I loathe the notion that every scene in a TV show or film is somehow required to serve a specific purpose, or that if a scene does not provide some direct and easily digestible character beat, or some sort of exposition then it is "filler" or "a waste of time". I just... really can't stand that attitude.

I know that in television, the network execs generally REQUIRE that you always be driving the plot forward at all times, and an episode like this would NEVER be allowed to exist (and everyone involved would probably ALL be fired) except under these incredibly bizarre circumstances. Maybe I'm weird, but I kinda really love that, and I love that this episode did not adhere to any real set structure the show was on and also deviated from a lot of the storylines in a way. I think that's great, and refreshing.

considering this is an era where every loving thing is an empty remake and steven spielberg is making a film adaptation of a book that's a totally sincere patrick bateman-esque parade of references and namedrops, only instead of that being intended to signal a terrifying lack of inner life and cold inhumanity, it's meant to be fun and relatable, yes, im pretty sure everyone who complains and whines about this show is just trying to find a way to say "I WISH I GOT TO HEAR MY CATCHPHRASES AGAIN" in a way that makes them feel like they're saying something intelligent.

The way they were talking about Billy and how he was missing in the woods made it seem to me like it was their cat or dog but then we find out Audreys been loving billy so.....

Im completely baffled who Billy would be that hes important enough to Charlie that he would help look for him but not important enough that theyd go to the police.

I think Sarah Palmer might have someone/thing in her head with her, and not just her being psychic. The music playing in the scene in the store is the music that played in most scenes where there was some sort of weird lodge spirit stuff in FWWM. After the weird music starts she asks "Were you here when they first came?" and I don't think she's talking about the turkey jerkys. Also "The room seems different", and it could be said she is in a convenience store. She starts saying "Sarah, stop doing this." and then gives herself commands to get out of the store, get her car keys, get in the car. It's like someone else is speaking through her mouth telling her what to do. Later she tells Hawk "It's a goddamn bad story, isn't it, Hawk?" With that and the sounds in the kitchen it brings me back to the Giant saying at the start of the first episode "It is in our house now." and "It all cannot be said aloud now." Not sure what all to make of it, but it was my favorite part of the episode and feels like it might have a lot of meaning packed into it.

I'm right with you and was thinking along these lines too. A couple other things. She was very concerned with the jerky and made a point of asking if it was smoked. Then she said some men were coming. The convenience store in the bomb scene was filled with smoke and the "dirty bearded men" were both inside and milling about outside. I feel pretty confident that she's saying those men are coming to Twin Peaks and she's having intrusive thoughts/memories of the other convenience store that she's mixing up with that one.

I think the thing that annoyed me most with that scene is that it feels way off for Audrey. Even with the brief bits we see other returning characters, they generally seem to be similar or at least plausible extensions in character from where we saw them last. Audrey just didn't seem like Audrey to me. But I suppose she did get blown up and was in a coma for a while.
