Oh yeah. For some reason in my brain I just always associate Xebec with that style.

Edit: and I liked the character designs in Seed. One of the main reasons I liked the show is that I was in love with Lacus Clyne.

Edit2: Though this was high school and I haven't watched it since then so I don't know how well it's aged.

Even ignoring everything else about the show, the early 00s digipaint has made its aesthetics age like roadkill.

Majestic Prince is the best Hirai face mecha anime. I still need to track down the movie, though.

The movie's real good, the final action scenes are amazing. Did you watch the extra episode?

A shitty post? This calls for a dance of deduction.
From what I understand, magic in My Little Witch Academia, is a metaphor for the animation industry. As it is beong seen as archanic and is dying. But is this really true? I mean anime and animation in general seems as popular as ever.

If I remember, the director was talking a big game about how the anime industry at the time sucked and Fractale would be different, the director being the same guy who directed the first four episodes of Lucky Star, which were so bad he was literally fired.

Hahaha I completely forgot about this. I remember when that happened.

You don't think it's true that the animation industry is in decline?

Or you don't think that there is a metaphor?

Cake Attack
Mar 26, 2010

the metaphor part

business practices in the industry are of course hosed between animator wages and overwork and all that fun stuff but I don't think that's a new thing

Speaking of which, why do Japanese animators get paid poo poo, in contrast to Western animators who get paid a comfortable wage? Is it just union strength?

Japanese workers in general kind of get paid like poo poo from what I can tell. It's apparently largely due to a lot of the problems Japan has as a whole. As for what is with the long hours and high stress, just watch Shirobako. It explains it pretty well.
