So, I think I've finally got this "cafe racer" thing figured out. It's when you throw two espresso machines down a flight of stairs and then staple what's left of the winner to your biek?

There are parts of this that are neat and well done (the easier ones to make like the rad guard) and parts that aren't (that headlight :barf:). 300 hours of build time or not, I don't think too many people will be interested in coughing up $4K over MSRP for mediocre welds, gunmetal powdercoat, and some off-the-shelf bits and bobs.

That guy is on the FZ Facebook group; I have been watching the build for a while.

But I figured he was building it for himself. Why spend all that time and then try to sell it? Nobody's paying 12k for a goddamn FZ.

I think the point is Z3n is a space cowboy on the edge of a frontier unknown to man, he's out there pushing the limits, trail braking into the abyss. Finding out where the edge of the razor is, turning to face the darkness and revving his 690 into it's vast gaze. You gotta live this to learn it bro.

Pretty good price. The City version was supposed to come with soft bags, but those high mount cans are aftermarket so it won't work with them. Ask when belts were replaced, they're supposed to be done every 2 years or 12,000 miles.

Is this a good price for a CB1100? I've always wanted one, and I know new ones hover in the 6k area but wondering if I should talk this guy down or look new.

That might be the cheapest I've ever seen, but I know the new ones have some nice updates, including an ABS option.

Yeah. I always swore I'd never ride another bike without ABS, but the CB1100 w/ ABS is rare as gently caress and much more expensive - like twice as much.

Replacing rear wheel bearings is a :siren:LOT:siren: easier than swapping crankcases. Like two hours vs. forty hours easier (assuming you're a mediocre shade tree mechanic and not a pro).

I'm a lovely shade tree mechanic and I still managed to swap engine cases, measure, order and install the proper bearings in about 12 hours work-time.

That's a Hayabusa that suffered case damage when the owner snapped the chain.
