I don't think "ugly" is a useful descriptor for Dick Tracy villians, but having an entire file full of "Ugly + Slow" ... how many of them are there? And for all the praise that that Fritzi Ritz gets for not being a Guy Gilchrist work, right now it's taking four panels to tell a joke that Mopsy does in one, when does Bushmiller take over?

"Arrested for Aggravated Mopery". Other than a reference to Revenge of the Nerds, that's apparently generic police slang for arresting someone when you don't have a good reason. Fits well with Snails' methods.

Rhymes with Orange Pros and Cons Oh, and wanna see something disturbing? I was searching for a particular Everett True panel the other day and came across this: (The reference is to the 1910 boxing match between Jim Jeffries and Jack Johnson, which was seen by many as a contest of racial superiority.)

Everett True is hardly progressive, since he frequently beats the poo poo out of any man he considers effeminate as well, not to mention an assortment of other things. At least the people in the background are shocked in this one rather than grinning about it. I'm not sure he reflects Condo's beliefs either, I think he's just a caricature. But I don't actually know.

Slammy posted:Mr. Tweedy (June, 1970, click for big) I don't usually read Mr. Tweedy, but today I happened to look at it. This is a good Mr. Tweedy. Because Team Evans have decreed that Les possesses the character trait "irredeemably evil," so even though you have no particular reason to think that Les is a scam artist and even consider him a friend, as a designated protagonist you are required to mistrust him at every turn unless Team Evans declares you the innocent victim in the current plot.
