My friend lives next to a group of three women all divorced career women who have substituted cats where the instinctual need for children is. That said, I wouldn't stigmatize being elderly and single because I think in a lot of situations either you or potentially anybody you meet could be really awful people and you actually just deserve whatever situation you are in. A.K.A. I don't need a man to define my existence. I imagine that in a perfect society these older broads enjoy a multitude of hobbies like kayakking, gardening, and loving nameless, faceless strangers in sordid motels once a month without an ounce of societal judgement.

I'm 30 and I have no kids. I don't really feel strongly about kids either way but I have no need to be a father at all I guess if my fat wife ever wanted them I'd have to oblige though, but it seems like my life would get a lot poorer and a lot less free-time-y if that happened

birth rates of developed countries are hosed. singapore and hong kong are at 1.2. south korea is 1.24. taiwan got down to 0.9 in 2010 and has now bounced back to a fecund 1.12. japan is 1.46. i wonder if you broke down by intelligence within these countries if the numbers for the iq 120+ crowd would be even worse. maybe we will have to push women back in the kitchen if you want the models of people with proven track records to procreate more (i would hope we figure out some better solution than that b c it is pretty offensive).
