I played against Mayo like 4 times and lost all but one If that was the trend then of course Mayo would win. Edit: Being the least popular by a large margin means Mayo plays nothing BUT Ketchup and Ketchup ALSO plays nothing but Ketchup. So Mayo racked up wins and Ketchup kills itself.

I'm fairly sure, as other people have said, that battles between the same teams don't count, as either they are not tallied at all or that the respective wins and losses cancel each other out.

If anything Splatfest seems more balanced now. Back in Splatoon 1 popularity eventually accounted for only 1/7th of the final score while total wins accounted for 6/7ths of it. Meaning that better players tended to pick the less popular option as kids would usually go for the more popular one. Now with popularity counting for 1/3 of the score it's less of a sure thing. Plus since the difference between the winning and losing team is only 3 snails there is less of a reason to pick the team you think is going to win, and just pick the team you like and have fun.

Sea bagging sounds better. If you want specific ability chunks - find a brand that gives them as the common ability, level it up and then use sea snails to reroll it. I have 19 left from the splatfest, I just need to decide what I want. Also I think 3 of the ability equals the main slot (the ability the gear has when bought) so you want them in 3s, but if you spread them out over multiple pieces of gear you won't need an ungodly amount of chunks (its ten for the first slot of that ability, 20 if you want a second one and thirty if you want the third, so its 30 chunks spread out or 60 all on the same gear).

Justice has been served... with mayonnaise. One thing I find odd though: I was on team mayonnaise for the EU splatfest and I still got quite a few mayo-on-mayo matches. It made me think the difference in popularity was going to be a lot smaller than this. The new duo's pretty great. Really liked their splatfest banter and their setup in the plaza is pretty cool.
