My supervisor in the guard went to ComiCon and spent $2K. Apparently a lot of it was anime statues. You can give a millenial dork a GS-11 job but you can't necessarily change his spending habits.

I have definitely noticed a willingness among our generation to just give up on poo poo, especially college. In your last semester and all you have to do is your capstone to graduate? Nah, it's just too much. Better drop out and wait tables. Finished with your dissertation and just need to defend it? Time to exercise some personal compassion and take a permanent hiatus.

I had a recruiter walk up to me as I left my old apartment building. He started out by asking how long I had been out for and if I ever wanted to get back in. I told him I was never in (I'm guessing either my haircut or my paracord bracelet led him to think I was prior service), and being confused, asked him if he was working at Walter Reed or something. "Nope, just I'm a recruiter. I work up the road." Maybe it worked on someone once

In the news vacuum, Washington DC was going a bit nuts over a self-driving car that was driving around Alexandria, VA. That was until a reporter found the car. https://twitter.com/AdamTuss/status/894627339891609602 It's a guy driving around a car while wearing a car seat costume.

Yeah, I really think that most olds who rant about Millennials (and even some self denying Millennials) think that we're still living in the 1960s or early 70s where at the age of 18 you could walk into any blue collar workplace and get a well paying job with legit benefits. Regarding recruiters, I've gotten several e-mails from the Marine officer recruiter here. Jokes on them because being in my early 30s I'm fairly certain that I'm over the max age limit. And the Army sucks enough, why the gently caress would someone join the Marines afterwards?

Marine reserves is 25, Army 30, the rest is 40. Joining the Navy reserves at 37 was overall a constructive midlife crisis compared to buying a hot rod and pound of coke. But just barely.

The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise. Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers. Socrates was bitching about whatever the loving ancient greek equivalent of millennials were over 2,000 years ago

I'm a Gen Xer and we were apparently the worst thing ever as well. But the worst they could think of was that we listened to too much rock and roll and smoke too much weed and drank too much booze, which sounds more like an endorsement than a criticism. Poor millennials get poo poo on for goddamn everything including killing Arby's and probably chemtrails and gay frogs as well. No matter what the problem is it can be blamed on millennials apparently.
