I found out listening to The Dollop that the childrens game "Telephone", where you say something to one person and then they pass it on to the next person over and over, is know as "Chinese Whispers" in australia.

Sounds like it was a matter of time before he got his rear end fired and what hill he wanted to die on to make it so. Honestly, I'd love to read the memo to see how hosed up it is. Also, it sounds like Google not only canned him for being a jackass but also giving the government more evidence for discriminatory pay practices as well. In short, this guy was a dumbass for so many reasons and he destroyed his own career.

BovineFury posted:When face painting gets ugly...er. drat. Speaking as an artist my gut reaction was that she wanted him to raise his rates so people would value their work more as a whole. Imagine getting $80 for two hours of non-stop hyped-up children and progressively drunker adults demanding specific face paints, and not just a simple "here's a heart on your cheek" but full-on candy skulls and tiger faces. I volunteered to do face-painting and kids can be picky and their parents overbearing, I wouldn't do that poo poo again for that little money.

We call it "silent post". e: yup: quote:Historians trace Westerners' use of the word Chinese to denote "confusion" and "incomprehensibility" to the earliest contacts between Europeans and Chinese people in the 17th century, and attribute it to Europeans' inability to understand China's culture and worldview. Using the phrase "Chinese whispers" suggested a belief that the Chinese language itself is not understandable.

Antwerpse Handjes are one of those things the city's tourist dept tries to push, but I dont know any other people in Antwerp who are into it. It's just chocolate in a hand shape ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. The origin of it was indeed explained to me as being the Antigoon legend (lmbo), but given our colonial history it's kinda dubious.

It has been around for decades. Originally it didn't have a roof, somehow its addition makes it look even worse. Mierenneuker has a new favorite as of 10:38 on Aug 8, 2017 |

If anything it makes you empathize with the folks at the end who are questioning who is real and who's a bot. He's transcended griefing into narrative art.
