A la carte cable subscription was the dream and now you're all getting it.

I'm not entirely sure what we're on about here in the comic book movie thread but I'll take the current model of whatever Netflix, Hulu and Amazon are doing over a $150-200/month cable bill for poo poo I never watched or wanted.

As far as money paid for content delivered, I don't think things have ever been better, especially when you factor in poo poo like YouTube, Spotify, Itunes, movies from loving vending machines and online news. That's even ignoring how great and awesome it is to be able to locate free porn to beat off to no matter what you''re into. We live in a golden age where you can basically watch almost anything you want when you want to as long as you have an internet connection.

Anyway...I heard there's some comic movies coming out soon or something.

Re: Black Widow and Hulk, the way it was handled in the movie was a swing and a miss but I don't dislike the idea in the abstract, however I have to say that I actually think that having Hawkeye be this guy with a normal wife and kids appeals to me more than a prospective BW/Hawkeye romance. Like, to me it helps reinforce the idea that Hawkeye is the most grounded dude in the bunch, just a guy doing his job, and his home life is also the most normal and most functional out of anyone's. Plus I like it when sometimes fictional characters are just really good buds, I think that dynamic works better for Black Widow and Hawkeye than a romance would imo.

this a million times. A romance between Clint and Nat is stupid and bad. Them being work buddies that trust each other, have the other's back is great. This is not When Harry Met Sally, men and women can actually just be friends.

Also: Dad sweater Hawkeye is the best loving thing, and I love MCU Clint just being this guy who doesn't have time for all this bullshit because his kid has a science project he needs help with and his wife wants help renovating their porch, and other grossly mundane stuff like that.

The earlier suggestion of making a hypothetical Hawkeye movie into a family movie the way Spider-Man: Homecoming was a John Hughes-esque high school movie, I mean, I feel like getting it right would require the perfect director and script but I would absolutely be down for the adventures of Hawkeye, Dadvenger. Have him and his family temporarily move to the suburbs somewhere because his wife gets offered a job and oh no, it turns out the neighbors are a deep cover Hydra cell! Clint has to miss his kids' PTA meeting to go chase badguys so he calls up "Aunt" Natasha to cover for him. Seriously, someone at Marvel needs to make this movie.

Something along the lines of The 'Burbs with Tom Hanks, where they're relocated and Clint *thinks* his neighbors are hydra, but everything turns out innocent until about midway through the third act where we find out that no, they are spies! Or not. Basically turn the third act into a total farce like the How to Cook for Forty Humans bit.

That's not a bad idea, except we would have to swap out Renner for Matt Damon in order to bring out the most in the script. I assume that Black Widow would have to save him at some point.

Tom Bombadil being cut is fine and him being ridiculous is fine. Gimli being turned into comic relief was dumb and there's no reason anyone should expect the actor to give that role a moment's thought after he cashes his paycheck.

AFAIK we haven't seen Sam show up in any promos or shots, so if I had to guess he's probably some CG character/voice work acting. Do we know who is voicing Surtur?

I mean, we're gearing up for Thanos and dipping into the cosmic stuff. Could he be Eternity (which could be pretty baller), or one of the other Powers? Cause I mean, the art and style of "not War World" looks like a love letter to Kirby as it is, and I would lose my mind at seeing big screen Eternity.

Mr. Krabs is voicing Surtur.

Neil was on set (that doesn't mean he couldn't be mostly CGI, though) and they are deliberately refusing to name him or feature him in any promo material, so the assumption is that he is someone who would be a spoiler by being named.

No, which should mean that they'll be trying to make an actual good movie instead of relying on a popular name.

They're starting well with the director at least. But it's still Sony.
