I like how the panelling implies that it was Allison taking the lead on this one, and Incubus just happened to share her opinion (apart from anything else, we read everything left to right, so events on the left side of a panel implicitly happen first).

Incubus and Allison just happening to be completely on the same page is my favorite part by far

This is good but I kind of want Allison to grab her mask and crush it rather than push her. I dunno, seems more funny but poetic justice is cool too I guess.

Now I really want to see a fight scene featuring ruthless abuse of this lightning jumping thing, just constantly zapping behind her opponent and clowning them with cheap zweihander sneak attacks.

The only way this would appear to be a way to maximize her individual profit is if Suuz either didn't know what the real purpose of this expedition is, or if someone is paying her to kill Allison. p sure Oscar and the other devils are there cause of Yabalchoath, and if they thought for a minute Allison had a key of kings and wasn't just some mark they'd be dogpiling to be the first to rip it out of her forehead

Allison isn't paying them, she's hardly a client, and her greatest contribution to the heist was getting Yab into a catsuit. The devils don't owe her anything.

I was posting off the cuff so yeah I'll cop to misremembering how Oskar got pulled into this. EDIT: Phone posting sucks, let's try this with quotes. I was responding to this: Pureauthor posted:I guess this confirms the Devils don't actually know what the gently caress they're even in here for. Dead Reckoning posted:Uh, all of the devils are there to maximize their individual profit at the expense of anyone who happens to be in their way, so Suuz was pretty on point with that until the new girl teleported directly behind her head. And my point is if Suuz knows what Allison and Cio are really here for, then killing Allison now isn't a smart move. Killing her later, sure, but killing Allison means they'll likely lose Cio's help. Maybe Suuz thinks she can threaten Cio or is hoping greed wins out, but why take the risk now when there's sure to be plenty of chances to bump off Allison after they've gotten past the bits Cio is critical for? Taking the opportunity to do it now would only appear to "maximize individual profit" if Suuz hadn't been told what the real goal of the heist is. Based on the fluff in the text archives, I've imagined devil jobs as a cross between Paranoia the RPG and a more free-wheeling version of the opening robbery from The Dark Knight, wherein it is common for participants to meet with unfortunate accidents witnessed by only one of their team mates, and the best way to ensure your share is to be the only one left to collect. Dead Reckoning posted:Allison doesn't actually contribute anything to the team though. Like, if she had access to the full power of the Key of Kings, she wouldn't need the rest of these yahoos. The most anyone knows is that she has some kind of grip on Cio and clowned The Artist Formerly Known as Vladok. The pitch she gave Oskar, and Oskar presumably gave the others, was that they were breaking into Yre with the legendary Yab to steal the unimaginable riches within. Hell, they probably think Cio will be grateful to them for killing this lovely magus she is saddled with. I presume Allison was smart enough to avoid dropping the fact that this is all a sideshow for rescuing her creepy ex from Mammon himself. The entire point is that if they've moved into the backstabbing phase already, then they have been kept entirely in the dark about why Allison and Cio actually organized this heist, which was probable but not certain before now. Edit: Or do you actually think we're arguing that the devils care about Allison completing her goal? Because of course loving not. It just changes the timeline of when they try to shiv her. If they knew Cio - who they need to get into the vaults - was only here to help Allison, they'd be trying to keep Allison alive until after they'd gotten into the vaults, because that's the best chance of getting Cio to do her part.
