This happened in Texas.

I know this is going to make a lot of people uncomfortable just like it made me... But here is what happened.
Family member owner of the animals is no longer fit to run his small ranch for his health issues (had a triple bypass, and has myriad of issues). So he would only go to his ranch every so often. Every couple of days... Last week he had more pressing issues and he couldn't go.

Now that is normally not a huge issue (not saying that not visiting your horses daily is ok, he should've hired somebody to do these chores).
He got a call last night at night telling him his horse had died, but in reality, all 3 or 4 of them had passed.

He usually leaves the horses with vast amounts of food, and he leaves the water running in a large container. The reason why he leaves the water running is that the overflowing water makes the water cycle and the horses would always have fresh water. This would make a neighbor very upset because he didn't like water to be wasted. This is a troublesome neighbor that had voiced his opinion multiple times about wasting water and gone as far as turning the water off in the past. The difference is that they had gone to the ranch often enough to turn it back on again.
They had tried using those valves with floaters but they weren't as reliable as leaving the water open which they thought was safer for the horses anyway. So every day the horses were visited, they would top off the water and make sure it was overflowing.

Anyway, upon arrival and seeing the dead animals and an empty water tank, he called the sheriff and reported the incident.
I'd like to know or have a heads up of whats coming our way. We can't prove the neighbor closed the water so it's a charge for animal abuse is very much possible.

I don't know if this changes anything but the horses were rescued horses auctioned by the state.

I have two friends from High School who have become professional indentured servants.

One of them moved to Celebration, Florida and has paid Disney World to work for them for three years. She is still a "performing intern" because she loves Disney so much and wants to keep working there until they have a full-time opening. She is 30.

Another one lives in New York and works for Apple. He gets paid, but it is around $800 a month. So, he's at a net loss of about $1,100 a month at his job.

He is an Apple Brand Ambassador and goes to coffee shops, college campuses, and sits in public with Apple products. He casually strikes up conversations with random people and has them try his devices. He does not identify himself as a representative from Apple unless he is at some kind of college event.

He's been doing this for about 2 years. That's roughly -$26,000 in income from his job over that period.

My ex did this. Failed out of college, and moved 1500 miles away to work at a Disney theme park. Eventually got so deep into the cult that she thought it was a good idea to go back to college, this time a private art school in NYC financed on loans and a part time work, all to learn animation as a career. To her credit she finished a degree, but ended up employed at Trader Joes shortly afterword and hasn't climbed much higher since.

They are incredibly strict about clocking in on time, scheduling, blah blah blah, even compared to other minimum wage/near minimum wage jobs. They can afford to do this because they have a stack of applications that is thousands deep for every single position.

Throwaway account... I've been doing some third party dnms dealings and have made some huge mistakes like leaving BTC on Alphabay that has caused me to accumulate a little over $100,000 in debt. My friend who is in her mid 20's just finished an online degree in HR (which had added quite a nasty loan burden on her life). What is she gonna do with it?

Well she just got hired at a car dealership for $12/hr, no benefits, terrible shift, 20-30 hours a week.

She's getting the gig because her brother (who is in high school) is being promoted to a slightly better gig

This same friend is also thinking of leasing a car from said dealership because, and I quote, "they are so loving CUTE"
