I have two or three Linemen in my orc team. One of them is called (by me) Hero Lineman, because he has block.

Meanwhile, #2 The Black Orc has yet to manage get Block, which pissess me off to no end.

Not to play; the first book is pretty necessary if you want to play a league. I've heard the second book is pretty extraneous, haven't even looked it up yet.

I've only managed to get Block on one of my linemen as well, the venerable Mor Meet. Once he got it he quickly became the star of the show.

The play itself starts at around 3:30, but the sequence of events that leads to it is pretty funny too.

That's remarkable, haha. I'm pretty excited to try out the new teams in the LE, since so far I've only really been playing orcs.

Today I came to realization (while pooping) that I likely have enough Space Marines to give each legion a Minigeddon army. If only I could coax them out of their square bases and find line ones... and also find time for all that.

Leave them in the squares. Nobody cares about the base shape, as long as it adheres to standards.

Agreed, but, odds are, you're going to have to break the bases to get them out, you'll wind up snapping a few legs at the ankles (trust me on this), and you have to find (i.e. make, because you'll never find them at a reasonable price) bases.

If you are going to go ahead anyway, a 1/4" hole punch works well on thin plastic card, cut to size. Then another piece (unpunched) or adhesive magnet sheet cut to size works for the bottom. I did this for my IG. It's very time consuming, but the bases look alright.

Another alternative that I've seen people do is to take card or laser-cut wood to size, tape it in a stack, mark out your hole placement, then drill through the stack. I haven't done this, as I'm terrified that my stack will shift and I'll wind up ruining half the bases.

People also use FOW bases or even washers for their Epic bases, though you have to build up the surface on them.

This is true too. I know I'm getting old, but when I see a stand of 6mm models on the table from 2+ feet away, I pretty much see colored peg-like things on a stand.

If you're able to apply a base color and wash to all the models, then gussy up the three you can get to, I think things will be A-OK.

I think it's the painting style, same house style FW uses on the BB models and it looks a little garish for my taste.

I'm just shocked the Escher girls look so good, I was dreading some Infinity-style cocktease nonsense but these two look pretty badass.

I'm not a fan of the new Eschers, honestly. The body proportions are cartoony and weird. They look kinda...mutated - but I guess that's kosher for Hive Gangers. And you're right, that paint job is doing them no favors. The poses are cool, though.

"We have an info dump of information for you from speaking to the amazing Specialist Games veteran designer Andy Hoare at The Forge World Open Day 2017.

So we are broadly looking at a game based on the 8th Edition 40k mechanics, but tailored to skirmish warfare. We see the edition of Action Points, that can be used to active gangers in a similar way to how Space Hulk works. Different actions will cost different points, such as activating a Heavy will cost two Action Points, whereas your run of the mill Ganger will cost only one.

We are looking at a release schedule much like BloodBlowl, this is the ‘Preview’, launch of the initial box set will follow in the same sort of timescale as from when BloodBowl was ‘Previewed’ then launched.

The box itself will contain the Escher and Goliath gangers we have seen already, the rules, accoutrements and most likely Shadow War terrain. The Specialist Games studio do not have the resources to produce terrain solely for Necromunda, so they are trail blazing the Shadow War release with all the cool terrain that was released with that boxed set, and subsequently in individual kits until present. The rules will allow for play in the way we are used to on gangways, ramps and gantries, but also in tunnels making use of the Zone Mortalis tiles available from Forge World.

We will see all the gangs from Hive Primus return, along with the gangs from Outlanders and Fanatic. We will also see new gangs and some expansion of the fluff on Necromunda.

HIVE SECONDUS was written about in the Fanatic days, a Hive overrun by Genstealer cult, nuked by the Necromunda Defence Forces to rid the planet of the infestation. However, the hive toppled on its side with most of the Cultists surviving resulting in the Defence Forces building a large trench system in the surrounding Ash Wastes to isolate the remains of the Hive from the rest f the planet. It is hinted we will be visiting this intreaging story in the future! "

It doesn't suck at all. If you want Old Necromunda you can use the old rules with the new models, so it's still good even if the rules suck. And there is absolutely no reason to write the new rules off yet when we know next to nothing about them.
Necromunda/SWA is a very good system, but it is also as old as gently caress and shows it.

Personally I'm hoping for 'turnover' events like in Blood Bowl.

I'm happy to wait and see. I said a week or two ago that I either wanted it to be all new or all old, not a sloppy mix, and it looks like we're getting all new.

The common criticism of SWA is that they're 20 year old rules parading around as a new product, so seeing them adapt the current 40k with considerations for the skirmish scale seem like a good idea to me.

Honestly I don't know. I've not played it. I've only played Firefight with people who have played it and they don't compare it favorably. One guy complained that his opponent in 40k exploited a rule blocking shooting into combat by having the models that weren't engaged form a conga line that could shield the rest of his army. I have no idea if this was just a shitlord taking advantage of a newbie or a real problem with the rules.

But something like that, even if real, wouldn't be an issue in a game without units. So it's possible that whatever flaws 40k does have in its current form won't be present in Newcromunda.
