Grabbed a box of AoS Khorne Murder Slaughter Killer Bloods today. The spare parts from the Blood Warriors will make excellent 40k Berzerkers. Also bought the Triumvirate of the Imperium box for Greyfax but I'm thinking Celestine painted in the same colours as the Sigmarines I did would make a great general for them too. I held off on buying the Chaos Codex as I think I spent enough for one visit :/

Still a lot more stuff for less £ than a couple of years ago, especially the start collecting box.

I've found stonecrusher carnifexes to be kind of disgusting

Exocrines are probably the best of the big beasties though. But them having to shoot the closest target without synapse is s problem

For GSCs, I mean, the Genestealer Patriarch is pretty much designed for that role.

But if you want something bigger and badder, its hard to go wrong with a Hive Tyrant. You can kit them up lots of ways too. Trygons are also awesome and impressive and a personal favorite model of mine, and a Trygon Prime generates its own synapse too, same as the Tyrant. Being a burrowing beast it kinda makes sense as a secret ally too.

For something smaller that would still work on its own, a Lictor or a Zoanthrope could be fun?

Or yeah Harpy Crone if you want a serious flyer. No clue how good they are in 8th tho. Maybe just consider a Tyrant with wings?

I need the thread's help. I am having fits with flyers. I am a scrub who plays Orks and Chaos Marines and doesn't want to run flyers to counter flyers.

Today I had two flyers against me and despite having first turn, they just went across the table and deleted two units. A second round of bad shooting meant they removed even more. Those flyers killed so much because they could kill anything, but I only have a few units that can possibly wound them. And it's too easy for the flyers to ignore terrain and just counter those units first turn.

So what is the best way to deal with them?

Im not sure why you think running flyers is a no go zone but the only second choice you got is run units with the fly keyword like stormboyz.

The same could be said about psykers.

Don't take them and see what happens when you have no counter to an entire phase of the game.

There's nothing wrong with flyers, they're part of every army. In addition, when you play someone who doesn't have one - it's even easier.

Most flyers aren't any better at shooting flyers than non-flyers are, there's only a few that get a hit bonus vs flyers but they usually have heavy weapons so get hit penalties for moving

The best way to kill flyers is in melee using models with the fly keyword

You don't need to run Flyer-slot Flyers to counter them. But either something that can charge them, ie, something with the Fly keyword and that can feasibly down a light vehicle in CC, or guns that get bonuses against flyers. For loyalists that's stuff like Stalkers, Tarantula Air Defense Batteries, or just stuff with enough volume of fire that you can still hit it with a -1.

Or use something with Las and take the -1 to hit to shoot at flyers. A hellbrute with las will still hit on a 4+. Predator with sponsons. Oblits. Order a Legion Sicaran from Forgeworld.

It sucks because you've got less options for your dedicated flyer than space marines, but a demon prince will get work done if you throw one into a stormtalon.

Or be super janky and get Skarbrand to assault the opponent's flyer. It will be unable to fall back and either have to drop to hover, so you can hit it normally, or crash at it's movement phase.

Just to clarify skarbrand cant fly so you grab some harpies and get skarbrand in the bubble of the flyer. Pretty hilarious regardless.

For Chaos, I'm not. This game my havocs couldn't hit or put more than 1 wound on a flyer. The frustration was more due to the Konor mission for this week.

Orks are more my concern, due to the need for 6+. I'll look into Stormboyz or DeffKopta.
