Jovial Cow posted:This was posted in the Ray Parlor but I figured it should be posted here as well. Arsenal goalie Petr Cech flew back to Martin Havlat's farewell game and played goalie for a period mid week this week. He had to promise to be back the next day for training. This is pretty astonishing considering Arsenal has a game today, the first game of the season. He looked pretty good as well. His skating and movement look pretty decent. Obviously has some level of ice background.

Why there are Detroit Red Wings logos at the Nazi rally in Charlottesvillequote:This weekend’s Nazi demonstrations in Charlottesville, Virginia, are an ugly reminder of our current situation. Since Friday night, the Unite The Right rally has brought together various factions representing white supremacy, white nationalism, fascism, and Nazis to the University of Virginia for marches an violence. It’s a sobering reality, and it takes on a pall of surreality when you notice all the Detroit Red Wings logos among the crowd. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiPWPlUZu00 From the Wings FB page: jesus loving christ

I haven't seen anything like this since the Nation of Islam tried to sorta invade a Red Wings game earlier this year.

Jersey came. I ordered the patch separate. It's made in Canada and feels like the good replica jerseys used to, aka not flimsy and thin.

Okay so on the one hand, this guy thinking a social media director writing a brief condemnation is taking away time from team management is stupid. But on the other... could it really be worse if he was making the calls than Ken Holland?

holland is only marginally better than neo-nazis, if that answers your question

ill be honest i didnt feel right making a cheap joke because its actually good that the detroit red wings can manage to quickly and unambiguously condemn nazis since we live in a depressing time where "nazis are bad" is a more controversial belief than it should be sucks about bryan murray too, hockey's not having a great day today all around it seems

During the drought of hockey news, I've been reading THN's 2020 vision - some half-assed projections of rosters in three years. I knew these weren't going to be great when the first few assumed that players wouldn't decline at age 35, but when they got to the Rangers, I realized they're pretty much filling out templates without knowing what they're talking about. Their main gripe is that they can't envision the bottom six in three years. Key points: -Kevin Hayes will move from center to wing, while JT Miller will do the opposite -Mats Zuccarello will vanish into thin air, and by the same magic, Matt Puempel will become a third liner -The fourth line will have three players THN lists as centers -"if they can’t fill out the bottom-six, there’s the threat of the Rangers’ offense disappearing" http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/2020-vision-what-the-new-york-rangers-will-look-like-in-three-years

I mean I'll take that season from Geno. But he's only gonna play like 60 games so don't see it as even a way out there possibility.

It's interesting how Draisaitl has 14 points more and Strome has 20 more than Eberle last year yet McDavid somehow goes down in points year over year. And by interesting really loving bad.

They have 7 players getting 90+ points. 7! As a reminder, here's how many players have gotten 90+ points the past 4 seasons: 2013-14: 1 (Crosby - 104) 2014-15: 0 2015-16: 1 (Kane - 106) 2016-17: 1 (McDavid - 100) A grand total of 3 players. So for there to be 7 in one season basically means all starters would have to die at the same time, and the back-ups would need to play 60+ games. I wish I could see what they thought the goalies were going to do because man I imagine those projections are insanely bad as well.
