All the crazy poo poo now happens while I'm asleep again. Good to see we're all still on the same page when it comes to bashing the fasch. Also, while drones are a point of interest, my cousing flies for BA, and posted a visualization of the disruption a drone flown near Gatwick airport caused back in July, pretty nifty. https://vimeo.com/228662010 More details and raw radar footage here http://nats.aero/blog/2017/07/drone-disruption-gatwick/ Ironically enough, it seems that the drone wasn't 'near' the airport, and well within airspace sanctioned for public use a ways away from Gatwick, where a photojournalist had been covering the scene of a fire in a caravan park or something. Apparently, overzealous reporting/observation resulted in the sighting, and the drone not actually being 'near' Gatwick resulted in it not being spotted again when airport crew went looking for it.

That doesn't mean preserving coal mining towns as living museums, but it does mean preventing people from descending into poverty and desperation in the course of 1 to 2 generations. It's easy in hindsight to suggest this was the obvious conclusion for coal, but remember that political candidates have been dangled coal-related promises for decades in order to get elected. Everyone benefits if the government supports and sources exit opportunities, retraining, and welfare for people who specialized in an industry that's being phased out. Obviously what we are seeing recently is not justified by any of that. But if we don't like the ugly results of leaving behind a subset of the population maybe we should support preventative measures in the future. In this case, it's already developed into full blown cancer, so we may as well bust out the

Guessing here, but I imagine the first instances of getting rural poors to vote against their own interests had to do with exploiting racist sentiments, particularly in the south, by political candidates. I agree that things are way out of hand, but we didn't get here by accident. Yup, this goes back to my point yesterday about how racists have repackaged themselves and rephrased their message. I don't know if anyone read the cville article I posted last night; one of guys states that he isn't a racist - he is a white nationalist who just wants white people to be "able to assemble and advocate for their rights like other groups".

https://twitter.com/YesYoureRacist/status/896411734617075712 The internet has started identifying and doxxing the more visible fascists who attended the rally in Charlottesville. At least one of them has already gotten fired over their attendance yesterday. A lot of people came from as far away as California to attend this rally, including some veterans of the Berkeley brawl from earlier this year, and also, that Vanguard America group that the suspect reportedly marched with is the same one that blanketed a neighborhood in DC (Bloomingdale- the same neighborhood where Seth Rich got killed ) and tore down the pride flag at my favorite bar in that neighborhood.
