Nice. The Lebel is boss, been using it a bunch recently and it's a lot of fun. Anyone else slightly upset with these "perks" or whatever that they're adding to the new DLC? I feel like that combined with more rapid fire high capacity weapons is going to make the game even more CoD-like.

One of the new Tsar maps is a 3 flag White Russians vs Bolsheviks revolution battle, fighting over a beautiful partially ruined cathedral. It is so cool that DICE are doing this. And you know how the Russian scout class are female, to represent the Women's Battalion of Death? Well for this one map, the red side of the battle has male scouts because historically they kicked up a fuss about the formation of that women's battalion. So much attention to historical detail in this game.

The new map is pretty great overall, but it annoys me that the team with the G-side spawn gets a giant hill to snipe from that you can't approach from anywhere but the front. I'd be all over it if there was a way to come at it from the side so I could get my stab on, but the out-of-bounds make it impossible. The verticality and ability to drag people along on a cavalry lance make it pretty fun though! They're not going to nerf it, no one uses it and it already fires slowly and has a small mag size. It's great for mid-range but is poopy up close because you can't get bullets out fast enough.

I've probably been lucky, but I've not had too many problems up close. I mean, sure, you lose out to shotguns, but if I'm that close I'm usually waving the hatchet around.

Yeah, but it only really overlooks the G flag, and that's a dirty great ruined castle so anyone inside the walls is basically immune. I wasn't sure about the new map at first, but playing as the Russians I had a series of cracking fights trying to retake that castle from a team that held it most of the match. Usually that would be a gimme flag, but being that far back it's surprisingly good for the Central Powers if a team to rush and hold. I tell you what this map isn't good for though, pilots. Really difficult to get a sense of where anything is below as it's all snow and trees, broken up only by more snow and trees. The bounding area for the planes feels really small, and fly too low and you get a faceful of branches. I'm glad the planes are there, after a bunch of maps recently without any air power, but it's really more for you high altitude bomber pilots than my low level shenanigans. I've not been able to get to grips with the new cavalry lance yet, and I've always been quite good with the sword. Something a little bit off about it. Could just be me, and I will persevere because omg do I want to ride horses and poke people with a big stick.

EDIT: Beware though, it's actually pretty hard to use on Lupkow Pass because of all the terrain. I only got one impale kill in three games despite my best efforts. The game gives you 50 IMPALE KILL bonus points for it

Apparently they are reducing aim assist by around 60% so that would be a bit of a nerf  Also I've only played two rounds so far on the new map but I feel like it's an excellent flying map. Several of the points are quite exposed to air and I find it easy to pick out moving infantry against the snow. Plus there aren't any tanks so you don't have to worry about AA trucks. The lance charge is completely different from the bayonet charge, when you let off the trigger it stops, instead of careening past the guy screaming.
