Putin's in power pretty much because the Clintons helped hack a Russian election.
I don't believe anything about Russian hacking unless someone gives me proof and even then I don't care because a good campaign could have counteracted it instead of just whining. Everyone believed that DPRK hacked Sony but it was actually just from someone inside Sony. In Shattered it stated that the Clintons decided to blame the Russians after they lost and that's all there really is to the story.

americans are just mad that someone else tried to influence the outcome of their elections for once

to what extent they did seems to be spreading misinformation mostly, it's tough to know exactly what effect that had, probably a lot, maybe a little, who the hell knows

I've seen so much left-punching in the last 24 hours and it's just appalling. I don't understand how people wind up in this mindset even if they do blame Bernie for the election.

Have you no decency, sirs?!

For those wondering why the BE representative didn't make a snide remark about media on her appearance, there was already previous history of lefty politicians getting fired for shittalking the private, PSD-owned media channels on the current administration. I am honestly, honestly crossing my fingers that Publico or Expresso doesn't have a piece on her Chapo appearance the following week.

It isn't even really about politics with these people. It's all petty grievance and personal vendettas against people that got under their skin during the primaries over a year ago.

I think they may have tried and may have turned a few hundredths of a percent of peoples minds but this election would've gone the same way no matter what.

The election was decided by 100k votes in total so even a fraction is enough to turn over that election. Of course the real hack would've been to run anyone else except Clinton in that position

a phishing email that the government took credit for combined with russian news videos getting retweets is the extent of the russia hack. the only people really concerned about russia in earnest are a few people in the pentagon who piss their pants when russia spends more money on submarines than we do, and are looking for any excuse to paint them as a threat so they can fund more naval research projects for bubble and surface rather than dumping the money in naval air research. the dems are going to use this as a way to justify going into syria because they want a national, "gently caress russia and it's allies for trump" narrative, because they're obsessed with military intervention to prevent russia from gaining more allies and arms buyers in the middle east. this stuff was made for all the middle/upper middle class defense contractors who obsess over russia because they served during the cold war and the people around them who think they're smart.

That's what's fun about arguing over blame for the loss: if any one of a whole bunch of different things had been different, Clinton would have won. It's just that all but, like, three of those things were entirely within the Clinton campaign's power to change and the dems are pushing one of the ones that wasn't as the reason she lost rather than reflect on the ones they should have done differently.

Serious economics question. Say seriously flattened income inequality, to the point where a retail employee made $200K and Chief of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic or the CEO of GE made $500K. One of the primary arguments against this is always *the price of goods will go insane! Bread will cost $100!!". That's obviously stupid bullshit but is there good literary or academic sources to show it's bullshit?

Well the cost of labor is baked into the price of the bread. In the very unrepresentative view of reality that is economics, the price of bread would be high enough to support a laborer who makes 200k a year. This also assumes an Adam Smith baker and not an automated post scarcity, robot future

Yeah, by working in their specific model they can pigeon hole and change the parameters of the hypothetical scenario at will. It sounds a lot of like a "but what about fiat currency!?" type of situation.

Chapo is experiencing a much smaller scale version of the old Daily Show effect where they shouldn't be people's main source of political understanding, but they are and need to reckon with that.

It's also amplified because the left doesn't have mainstream voices so they are people's idea of socialist thought leaders. If you ask a non-twitter person who the most left wing voice in media is they'll say Bill Maher or someone like that.
