Or Europe. Komplett.no, Norways biggest electronics chain still has over 200 Switches available. It's similar in at least the rest of Scandinavia.

Yeah, there's no shortage of Switches here in Finland. Since the distributor is not Nintendo itself but a smallish company called Bergsala, there might be some additional costs in the prices along with the high VAT. Still, the prices are falling as of late, and a brand new Switch costs like 350 euros. It's still like 30 euros more than what you'd get in France or in Spain. Bergsala sucks BTW. They also deal with repairs and account transfers, but they do so sometimes as intermediators between you and Nintendo. Sometimes they do good, sometimes I hear horror stories. But what really riled up their anger was with the SNES Mini Classic: the price for one was over twice the amount in Finland compared to elsewhere. There was a lot of finger pointing, some accusing Bergsala of exploiting consumers, others blaming shops for collaborating in a fixed price scam. I don't know if anything was solved, but it left a bad taste in people's mouths. poo poo sucks.

Ugh, when does Sonic Mania do auto-save? I exited the game after completing Act 1 of a zone and past the Act 2 title screen, but when I reloaded it later from the main menu it was back at the beginning of Act 1. Does it only save between zones?
|
# ? Aug 16, 2017 14:38 |

It always starts you at Act 1 of whatever Zone you're on. It doesn't save in between zones.

I guess I'll have to play through a fun level again. *shudders* The game is kinda cruel how often it dangles some extra item boxes or coins in front of you, but if you're letting Sonic's momentum roll at all it quickly becomes inaccessible. But it's also delightfully forgiving where if you fall down what looks like a drop to your doom, SURPRISE it's actually an additional tier to the level and there might even be more below!

I just realized near the end of the drat game that I'm controlling Tails' actions in Sonic & Tails mode, and holding up while jumping does his flying thing and can carry Sonic around in the air. Forgive me if this is old news, I mean I was a Genesis kid but I was also like 3

I just heard about The Good Life, and drat, that would be perfect on the Switch

I've long learned the hard way to give new Sonic games a good wait for the nostalgia hits to wear off before showing any interest. How does Sonic Mania hold up beyond a nostalgia trip?

How does Sonic Mania hold up beyond a nostalgia trip? There's a lot of love for the classics, but they also take the opportunity to inject some new ideas that really help change up levels and give them their own unique identity (Chemical Plant Zone Act 2 has incredible gimmicks that have never been seen in any version of Chemical Plant before). And whatever original content is there is absolutely amazing

Even if you're not a sonic fan, it's still a fun game with great music and visuals. It's good for the price.

I never really got the point of sonic. I watched the giant bomb quicklook and the levels are just so busy. I played whatever sonic was on the game gear 20 years ago and never got very far because I didn't know what I was supposed to be doing. At least in Mario, the point is to go to the right and get to the castle.

The complicated thing about Sonic is that there's always a lot of stuff going on in the levels and many branching paths but you gotta learn to just shut all that out and press right the whole time to get to the end. If you try to explore every nook and cranny of the level looking for something then you're playing it wrong.
