My Face When posted:I didn't read Animorphs as a kid but I always liked the covers. Seeing how everyone talks about it, I'm almost ready to buy the first book just to see what I missed out on. Please, don't waste your time, the books are loving bland as hell. The covers are far and away the best part of the series and context weakens them imo.

It's actually a plot point in later books that wizard society is super racist against other intelligent species like house-elves and centaurs, and Harry defaults to treating them like people and they save his goddamn life a few times. Not being racist is basically a superpower.

The best part about Harry Potter is how the Ministry of Magic is full of ineffective centrists like Fudge and Umbridge and rehabilitated deatheaters like Malfoy and that leads directly to Voldemort's appeal and takeover. That JK Rowling didn't learn this lesson from her own loving book is hilarious. I mean there's multiple times throughout the series in which Harry Potter and Dumbledore are presented by the ministry government as enemies of the state, and they even send Hagrid to wizarding Guantanamo. Fascists on the left and the right, indeed!
