The Canadian film industry as a whole is a mean of converting tax subsidies into jobs, quality be damned. However Quebec has a pretty decent film industry that does some pretty cool stuff, with the problem that 99% of it is in French so it won't see much exposure. One of the most famous Quebec directors at the moment is Denis Villeneuve who had a few oscar worthy pics before making Arrivals last year.

Donnie probably thinks getting rid of Bannon will get everyone to like him again, which is loving silly since half the country hates his rear end. While Bannon is certainly a horrible influence, Donnie will continue having at least one major fuckup a week because he's just that much of a disaster. Gorka and Miller are also still in and their views are about as hosed up as Bannon's so it's not like there was that much housecleaning.
