Stafford Liquor in Wilsonville by Costco. They now have several hundred of my dollars.

In better news, projects are getting done! New goal is to get rid of 6 cars in the next 6 weeks.

First one gone: After almost a year, the owner of the 94 Montego Blue FD I've been slowing chipping away at picked it up last night and handed me a wad of cash. I took him for a short test drive and promptly scared him, claiming that in 13 years the car was never solid enough to push 7PSI of boost. He's going to be really amazed after the break in is complete and I turn it to 18PSI :getin:.

Second one almost gone: The $250 Mazda B2500 my buddy bought now has a new clutch, all new front suspension bushings/balljoints, and shocks all around. Once the valve cover gasket is replaced, it's off to his dad's to serve as a beater truck.

Lined up for third: The $1k Turbo II we bought that had "Low Compression" is perfectly fine (minus some ghetto wiring). The poor thing just needed a MMO bath, fresh battery, and good gas. We're going to do a quick cleanup on it, plasti-dip it, and list it on craigslist. It's too complete to part out and we'll easily get $3500 for it.

And fourth: The Red 94 VR R2. It's got a small list of to-do's before I list it- but it's next up on the chopping block.

The 5th and 6th will most likely be the other 87 Turbo II I rebuilt once I find an exhaust and I absolutely hate to say it, but the 71 Celica. I just don't have the time it needs. There's a few other cars leaving- Two of my buddies FC's will be out of here in the next week. I swear I've repeated myself, year after year, but it's necessary. It's just too drat easy to say yes to people when they need help. Once the majority of the projects are gone, I'm going to focus on my own for a bit. I really want that 3 rotor running and it's just a few $$$ + time away from doing so.

Kidding! (I can't afford a 13B-REW - yet. It's getting an FC 13B first, probably with the FC front crossmember.)

edit: I'm also in Texas, a bit of a haul, so you don't have to worry I'll actually ask...

Because I was offered a WAD of cash for it and it was a early/weak block only good for 600hp. I'll pick up a new one in the coming weeks.

Pushed the 87 TII my friend bought into the shop yesterday and smoke tested it. It's had a questionable idle/hard start since I got it running a few weeks back. There were several leaks from bad vacuum hoses, but nothing terrible. While fixing them I noticed the coolant temp sensor was 1/2 way unplugged... Snapped it in, cranked it over and it started with no problem. Next up are fresh fluids and a quick interior cleanup then off to craigslist it goes.

Decided I needed a vacation and took the last week off. Two cars are gone, the truck is fixed, and the shop has been rewired.

This last week I found myself checking craigslist and was greeted with a $100 6/3+8/1 spider cable. Unhappy with the existing "temp" wiring for the shop (HA, 3 years later...), I bought it and all the parts needed to build a 50amp temporary service panel. I can finally run my larger welder and plasma cutter, have dedicated 20amp GFCI circuits, and a light switch. Eventually I'll pull the permit for the new service, but for now this works. We still have 30amps of 240v 3-phase ran separately from our phase converter in the other shop for several of our machine tools.

Old temp power. Each one was on a dedicated circuit.

I am incredibly happy to say the 93 Automatic Single turbo car is GONE after nearly 5 years. I busted my butt for 3 days and got the thing road worthy for a 920 mile trip home. Every time we fixed something, another thing broke. The owner failed to tell me it had sat for 15 years! The brake hardlines were clogged, only 1 radiator fan worked and was controlled via the HVAC switches! There are no HVAC controls due to the radiator fan mod (cabinfan/blower) and the power windows were stuck UP! The coolant had to be flushed 3 times before it stopped producing a milk shake. The turbo oil drain was HEATER hose and had to be replaced. After the second test drive, it bellowed smoke- turns out the crank case vent was clogged. Just issue after issue. I made him put (used) tires on it because the others were dry rotted and cracked. The radiator cracked on his test drive and thankfully a friend had an aluminum one locally. After all that, it made it safe and sound.

Finally fixed our F150. All it took was a new idler, AC clutch, harmonic balancer, and tensioner.

I forgot to take a picture of Ben's $250 B2500 after it was all cleaned up. The front end has been completely rebuilt, new clutch + hydraulics, and new plugs/wires/valvecovergasket/powersteering pump. I dropped it off last week and it's been running great. It got new tires today.

Had a quick visit from a old friend with his 42k 93 Touring. We rebuilt the motor years ago at my old shop. The clutch master went out due to how little he drives it. Great car. Not sold on the taurus wheels... but he like them.

94R2 is almost 90% ready to list it. I'm going to miss this car, but other things are just more important right now.

My son's been coerced into helping out more in the shop.

I've spent $300 + on different types of motor mounts/trans mounts/bushings to try and figure out how to mount this 20B and it's killing me. If I would just give in and mount it off the factory pickup points, I'd be DONE! But install would be a PITA. Oh well, everything should be reusable for other projects and it will be nice when it's done.

Correct- turbo manifold parts for a custom manifold and a shifter relocation housing.

Here's the housing. The entire engine is back 3.25" and this mount returns the shifter to the factory location (it). You can see on the tail housing where the shifter used to sit (all the way back above the tailshaft.) Beautiful piece. I keep joking with the machinist I'm going to need a lexan shift cover to show it off.

I keep meaning to update this, but life's been keeping me stressed-outbusy. So here's another random picture dump.

I was offered a set of unicorn status seats for my FD. You don't want to know the price and I don't want to admit paying it. But these are factory carbon-kevlar RZ seats from a 2002. I'll need to recover them, refinish the backs, and make mounts- but it's worth it. These are hands down the most comfortable factory race seats I've sat in. Once I free up or need a "me" project this winter, I'm going to put all the random pieces on and finish this project. Goal is to have a as-close-to-reasonably-acurrate 2002 RZ clone.

Last project of the winter: I've let people know I'm 6 months behind right now and won't be taking on additional work for the immediate future. The last car that snuck in is this 93 Auto. It's sat in a field since 02' and the owner wanted to know if he should try to fix it or swap it. After doing a general inspection and speaking with him about power goals/usage- we're swapping it. I'm going to try and shoot a video series around this. We'll see if that actually happens.

Last update: 20b project. This car I swear is 20% of my stress right now and that's exactly opposite of what it's supposed to be. I've been going back and forth for months with my machinist and Rob@Pineapple. Bad drawings, dozens of models, frequent design changes, material selection, vendor selection. It's been a mess. It finally came to a head last month and we all walked away. This was terrible timing and it's been sitting for weeks. Finally, we all cleared our heads and Rob had a plastic template later cut out based on a drawing he's used for pans prior. It barely fits and won't work for this pan. Due to the fasteners I've selected, we need a tighter tolerance- the factory oversizes the holes by ~25% on their stamped steel pans. So this weekend the blocks being yanked from the car and I'm taking it to our machinist. We're going to measure it on the mill and attempt to make a higher-accuracy drawing. Wish me luck. I'm ready to be done with this part of the project.

Unrelated: My brother got me this awesome advent calendar from Wera. It's awesome and I need to do something cool for him.

Feedback request: I have been thinking of turning some of these projects into short videos. Two of my good friends are encouraging me and offering help filming/editing. I'm not really a "in front of the camera person", but at the same time I want to show what it takes to do some of these builds. I have three perfect projects right now- 13B-REW rebuild, 20B project, and LS swap. Rob @ Pineapple has also been talking about reshooting a series of tech videos with me. My main concern is the additional time required to film/edit (regardless of the help- it still doubles the time). Anyone that knows me understands how little time I have. So I still need to think it over. Goal is to do these for fun, not for OMG Youtube. My question to you is, would you guys watch them?
