tbh there's some shared visual stuff (a lot of the sci-fi panels and stuff in s1 are very eva, the motif of going down a long elevator to get to the base is a pretty obvious homage) but evangelion was such an influential work that you could say the same thing about a lot of shows

I know you're kidding and all, but in the past 18 months my life has been very weird. I honestly do not give a flying gently caress about what the anime community in Youtube gets up in arms about and while I'm slightly saddened about the stance one of the companies I used to work for has decided to keep, I'd rather spend countless nights talking with the goofball I have for a daughter about the girl she likes, her career plans and how this manga, that anime and them novels are being cool/smart/dumb/silly and so forth or how she had a dirty dream about the albino girl from Game of Thrones or how she stopped shipping Sakura x Karin.

Yeah well, that's her call. Also, when I mentioned to her the dumb fan-fiction ideas I had, she drew a Ryu with clear PTSD-looking eyes and now I feel that I should work on my own stories, because that was the most "realistic" anime/manga drawing I've seen of someone with PTSD since, like, FMA Brotherhood, though I'm glad that she's getting really good at drawing so many types of emotions for characters.
