This is just my ignorance probably but where is the decimal point in those "ratios". When I see 190.4 that doesn't mean "190.4 times more debt than income", does it? edit: looked it up and based on better-labeled charts, they're percentages. So 1.9x as much debt as income. pangstrom has a new favorite as of 14:32 on Aug 15, 2017 |

Topical! It's a merging of other graphs; the point is to show that total solar eclipses happen almost everywhere on earth.

Besesoth posted:Topical! Is there guaranteed to be a solar eclipse every month then? Or is there enough wobble (procession?) in the orbits that sometimes the moon doesn't cross the solar disc?

|
The moon's inclination is 5 degrees off the Earth–Sun ecliptic so eclipses happen only once every five and a half months, when the crossing point of the ecliptic aligns with the sun–earth axis.

Yes, they happen a lot more frequently than people think, but a lot of them occur over oceans or uninhabited regions, or just aren't very dramatic. In the UK, for example, there are partial eclipses visible every 3-5 years, but there won't be a total eclipse until 2090.
