blocking ads is not illegal website owners can block viewers as well, it goes both ways if they want. But that's a stupid arms race with everybody losing. Instead the content becomes the ad, then u reach peak advertising and you go full consumerism and something something something, you thirst for ads, something something something, $4,000 camera

100 sticky paying customers are worth more than 1,000 freeloaders who will just go somewhere else when your js is tied to page load

but it was in their support portal. and only their support portal. and im not a paying customer, i was just trying to lodge a missing item enquiry as the recipient of an item that had gone missing in the post.

the problem with this entire argument is that the ad-funded content is trash and we'd have a much easier time navigating the internet without it

pagancow posted:100 sticky paying customers are worth more than 1,000 freeloaders who will just go somewhere else when your js is tied to page load let's be realistic it's more like 100 sticky paying customers for every million freeloaders, of which 100,000 will go somewhere else when you force them to view your insipid garbage

i wouldn't mind paying for good content, except i know they'd still shove ads down my throat. also the content would still suck because why make an attempt at actual journalism when you can just copy/paste a press release and call it an article
