I for one look to lynch mobs and the Pinkerton Agency for my model of egalitarian community policing.

Yes, I sang that. To the tune of The Yellow Rose of Texas like it were an Emily Dickinson poem.

Anyone who says "but Hillary was really well-liked" without any context is a loving moron.

She was the least likeable candidate in history, if not for Trump. And she loving lost precisely because very few people actually like her.

I don't understand how Hillary lost, all of my friends at the election party on the Long Island Gold Coast loved her. And all the intimate 2500 dollar per plate dinners I went to were full of Hillary boosters and decorum. How could anyone not like her?

Some unknown oldass independent commie socialist upstart from white canyon Vermont, a state of dairy and syrup, gave the most qualified candidate (based off from past experiences and positions and not in regards to policy and public trust) a run for their money.

I mean, you're pretty obviously zegermanning here, but the attitude of most Democratic primary voters I've ever met is "candidate X is someone who important people seem to like, so I'm voting for candidate X, because important people usually know what they're talking about"

democrats like people they're s'posed to like

Nah if the majority of the voters actually had an agent voice in the matter that is not themselves specifically assisting in the campaigns, then the voting system would be Approval voting, or at the very least Ranked Choice instant runoff voting.

Literally any candidate has a group of people who really like them. Even Chaffee and MOM had mega fans lol. Hillary having a solid group of people who love her really doesn't say much, especially when she consistently polls about as well, or worse, than Trump.

Alas, I shouldn't even be arguing against a zergemans talking-point that's actually just based on his old white woman fetish

The funniest thing is when hillarymen try to paint Bernie supporters being really into Bernie as a bad thing because it's "cultish"

the way you can tell a politician is bad is when a large number of people are really enthusiastic and public about liking them, you see

well the party does a lot of deciding on who are eligible primary voters based off things like closed primaries, setting registration deadlines, etc. not to mention managing information dissemenation via the debate schedule, etc

agreed, everyone has their cult, it's the most obvious part of politics. I'm sure with the far more widespread name recognition and national prominence Bernie will have a much easier time in the next primary, since he's not some rando senator throwing together a campaign on a lark, but the leader of the resurgent progressive left.

they get solved - the police grab a random black guy off the street, bribe a couple prisoners to cook up stories of a supposed jailhouse confession, and put em away for 30+ years if the victim was black, life if it was a white male, and death row if it was a white woman or child

sure, the actual criminal isn't caught, but policing isn't about that. it's about terrorizing the lower classes and giving the upper classes a feeling of satisfaction and closure

i'm not saying it was super great, or that it would work everywhere, or that it didn't have major flaws. but it's not that hard to be better than the current system.

having uniformed police murdering black people isn't really better than having roving vigilantes murdering black people, especially when the uniformed police have tear gas, APCs with 50-cal machineguns, and can make up reasons to have the legal authority to stop anyone or enter anywhere

traditional policing had discrimination problems, but modern police forces were literally built with the explicit intention of imposing state-sponsored discrimination

Unaccount, unorganized vigilantes all kidnapping and assaulting people without trials would be way worse than uniformed police and I'm glad it's never, ever going to happen.
