That's cool, and even then you'll probably want to sign up for email or chat or w/e electronic discussion for a group that interests you, if your local does that.

It's fine to show up and end up doing nothing, but in my opinion you should go at least hoping something you're interested in participating in will pop up. Here's my reasoning for that:

If I'm planning to go to only observe & not participate at all, then I might as well stay home and hear about whatever's going on after the fact on twitter or the news.

On the other hand, if I'm interested in learning of ways I can support & then actually doing that, it might be kind of silly to go with the expectation of just showing up just to listen.

Just going to meetings is fine, most people do that, but I'd recommend at least looking into a reading group or something. Also, and this might just be personal experience, working groups don't require a lot of effort on your part and you get a lot more in-depth knowledge of what's going on that's more tailored to your interests. Plus, you get the inside scoop on some of the cooler events and very rarely do working groups require you to sing the Internationale or Solidarity Forever so that's an immediate bonus.

Just be a little careful using "MoP", "capital", and "private property" interchangeably.

Capital & private property don't exist under communism, but there will still be means of production. Private property is just one kind of capital. Wages are another kind of capital.

And on the topic of technical terms that are needlessly confusing in today's parlance:

I like to use "profitable property" instead of "private property", since it gets across the implication more clearly, while also avoiding some confusion.

I guess you could say "extremely productive stuff" to distinguish between MoP and personal property that is used to make things, like ovens or sewing machines.

"Your things" or more specifically "the things you are enjoying" might be fine for "means of consumption" or "personal property".

Productive property would be more correct. Not all productive property is profitable after all.

Broadly speaking they were the most left wing branch of the Mensheviks, based around Iulii Martov, the main difference they had with the rest of the Mensheviks was they shared the Bolshevik opposition to the war and supported "an honourable peace", which basically meant without annexations. Because most Mensheviks believed Russia needed to go through a bourgeois stage before socialism they were staunch supporters of the Provisional Government, and it wanted to maintain support of Russia's allies.
