This is all like a puke dream that I can't seem to shake the sweats from, and every time I turn around, there's a shark and a clock... some sort of eyeball thing. - Fitz 12 oz mouse is a very interesting show. You either love it or hate it. I'm firmly in the "love it"category. At it's very basic it's a cheaply done show. The creator, Matt Maiellaro (of aqua teen hunger force and perfect hair forever Fame) pitched it as the cheapest show William's street would ever make. From what I've read he didn't mean for it to take off like it did but after the second episode he realized he had something here and that's when it really starts to get good. What starts off as a nonsensical stoner comedy becomes noir tale of revenge and lost memories complete with an alcoholic protagonist. I don't pretend to understand all the parts of this master piece, there's a lot to grasp, but I do want to share what I know and hopefully learn more as I go along. The story telling in this show is a lot like bloodborne. There pieces are all they're but it's up to you to find them and put them together. Even our main character doesn't fully learn what happens. So please join me on my adventure and come in with your own theories and insight. I'll be watching off the 12 oz mouse DVD which shows the entire saga as one large movie and adds fotage as well. You can see all episodes streaming on adult swim website. Ride The Gravitron fucked around with this message at 08:42 on Aug 28, 2017 |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbKc2rgjWCw No viewing of 12 oz mouse is complete with out the opening title. Considered by many (even by people who hate the show) to be one of the greatest opening titles ever. It's only surpassed by the excellent intro to Archer: Vice. Hilariously enough the opening title is perhaps the most expensive bit of the entire show. Sure it's only made out cardboard by the creator there's also the "fly by" camera and explosives to take into account. The massive amount of work put into the opening is a sharp contrast that really sells the cheap asthetic of the show it self. The very first opening scene in 12 oz mouse let's us know exactly what kind of show we're getting. Our anti-hero crashes his taxi jet into the telephone pole and everything around it instantly catches fire. Imagine it: you're high as poo poo, you're watching adult swim with your buds expecting to catch another killer episode of space ghost when your mind is blown away by that amazing intro of rock and explosions. You're pumped to see this new thing and when the show proper starts, it's a simple uncolored background that seems to have been drawn in pencil on printer paper. You're confused but a little intrigued. Why put such effort into the intro if you're just going to half rear end the show? Then Fitz comes quite literally crashing in with more explosions and introducing the first color we see in the world. This type of juxtaposition is going to be a recurring theme in this show. No two scenes ever seem to flow into each other. It causes this sort of chaos that you can feel as you watch the show. Leaving the burning wreckage behind we move in to introduce the first three characters of the show: What ensues is a classic-noir conversation of half information and bluffs as all three size each other up. A number of clues to the bigger picture are dropped in this scene but for the sake of this let's watch I'm going to focus on two. 1) The world flickers. What at very first glance looks like a simple avant garde style gag is actually the very first lead into our mystery. the world flickers the world it self is unstable with all the implications that come with it. 2) shark hires Fitz for a job. A simple job: drive a business man to a location. But the reason he chooses Fitz is pretty strange. shark posted:Drive him to cheese industries. you don't even know where that is. That's why we picked you, because everyone else knows. Again it sounds like a stupid little throw away line to make a stoner laugh but we need to look past that. When do you pick some one for a job when they know nothing about it? When you need a pawn. Some one you can play and is expendable. We see the very first hint of shark's nefarious nature in this line and it won't be the last either. Fitz just walked into something big here (or maybe he was pushed into it.) We move in to the airport where we meet our 4th character: rectangular business man. This is another character with mountains of secrets but for the time being none of that is really hinted at. What is interesting is that he tells Fitz rectangular business man posted:I have an appointment at cheese industries. I'd like to hire you to drive me there. Now one of the problems with using an uninformed pawn is that they don't know why they need to follow your plan. Add to that Fitz's obvious alcohol problems and it all soon starts to get out of control and next thing you know Fitz is trying to get rectangular business man to Star in a porno. This show maybe deeper than it lets on but it still is a stoner show on adult swim so you'll get bits like that. When rectangular business man refused to cooperate, Fitz drops a bomb on him, goes to rob a bank with his side kick skillet and then hits up the bar. At the bar we meet the bar tender Rhoda Fun fact: Rhoda is drawn on the page of a script for perfect hair forever and you can even read the script when he's got a close up. We also meet man-woman who can change genders at will. This may be one of the first instances of gender fluid representation in media. Please note that fitz is not barfing because of the gender fluid person but because he's drunk. And we also meet peanut cop in the bar All these people have their parts to play in our drama but for now we're just getting to see their faces and names. Of interesting note; Fitz goes to flirt with man-woman and approaches via tactical flips over the bar and rappelling down the ceiling a la mission impossible hinting and some sort of military/covert ops background. Our cop buddy questions Fitz about the bank robbery and casually mentioned the expensive beers they are drinking. Fitz throws the cop off the scent by claiming Rhoda called the cop a homophobic slur. True to his cop nature, peanut cop shoots Rhoda in the face. Our heros may have escaped for now but for Fitz it was a bit too close Fitz posted:Skillet, we just spent $64,000 in that bar. So we're going to have to get jobs to cover up the fact that we rob banks. But first I need to get a drink. So we go to the liquor store and meet Liquor Nothing really to be said about him at this point. Everything taken care of we get a quick slap stick scene and the Fitz goes back to shark to make sure his cover job is still in place. Shark is not happy about how it all went down. He seems to have uncanny knowledge of how the entire day went right down to every detail. Fitz tries to shoot him but we find out shark is bullet proof. A robotic insect evesdrops on their conversation and then Fitz gets his next assignment: Eye Ride The Gravitron fucked around with this message at 04:35 on Aug 29, 2017 |

This is an insanely good show when high. Like it will blow your fuckin mind. Its terrible sober. If you enioy tv that needs a chemically induced perspective shift to enjoy, this is the platonic ideal of that kind of show.

Welcome back! We're only just falling down this rabbit hole so it's best to just try and hit terminal velocity. When we last left our anti-hero he was in a cafe with a giant eye. That fire on the table is a breakfast dish served by man-woman. This is much more than just using an already made art piece for a stand in. You're going to see man-woman popping up a lot. They are a key person in this entire conspiracy. Eye looks pretty worried at the plate so I can't help but think it's a message designed for him. We get another character here He makes an appearance in this scene dancing above Fitz and eye, but only in the TV screen. We learn that eye wants to hire Fitz. He wants Fitz to kill Golden Joe who we have not met yet. While they talk innocent bystanders are shot and killed with arrows outside. This is not the last time we'll be seeing this murderous Archer. There seems to be a bit of disagreement between eye and Fitz about payment. Golden Joe owes eye 50 mil and Fitz wants every penny of it for himself. However man-woman shows up again and airhorns right in Eye's ear. And just like that eye agrees to the outlandish price. It's clear that man-woman is there to listen in on this meeting and make sure it goes right. Shark and Fitz have a debriefing of the meeting where Fitz just danced around the questions while the room fills up work water. They continue to talk but to us the audience is lost in gurgling. Even the subtitles read "muffled, indistinct" Fitz goes to open the door and all three characters end up outside dragged out by the flowing water. Here shark offers a bit of warning to Fitz. shark posted:Golden Joe is like magical. He's all disappeary and shut. You watch that, ok? Shark goes on to tell Fitz that he's come to care for him and Fitz wanders off to get a drink at the bar. Golden Joe teleports in a few minutes before Fitz. Rhoda the bar tender is genuinely impressed with meeting him. Fitz wanders in and like a classic Western the two make eye contact and know something is about to go down. Fitz let's hope know straight off the bat that Golden Joe has been marked. Fitz posted:ok here's the plan. You got a special effects guy outside, works in the movies. He worked on black beast. he's the best. have you seen that? there's not one beast in it but you think there is, ok? he's that good. Now I'm not sure what history Fitz had with Golden Joe but there's apparently something there for him to want to trick shark. The two of them go tank shopping They're gonna bust skillet out of jail. I'm not actually sure when skillet got arrested. They take another trip to the liquor store first where for chugs a bottle of booze and smashes it on the ground with out paying. This has clearly upset the powers that be since man-woman shows up right after to airhorns in liquors face. As they roll up to the "jale" a nagging woman comes up to inform fired that he can't park the tank there I don't believe this woman ever gets a name but she'll become more relevant as time goes on. In response Fitz blows her away with the tank. The pair slips inside to find peanut cop smoking a bunch of weed and high as hell. Fitz asks him peanut cop to hold a bomb to distract him. Golden Joe and Fitz then go in to find skillet locked up. They use Golden Joe's powers to swap place and freeing skillet but leaving Golden Joe locked up. Golden Joe phases out before the explosion leaving peanut cop to his demise. Fitz and skillet make for the mountains while Fitz songs a song fitz posted:look at the sun over the mountain Eye parachutes in to meet with them to discuss the job. He demands to know where his money is and Fitz let's hope know that he pissed it away on a tank. An anklet on skillets ankle beeps and he explodes off the face of the Earth. No one seems worried about it. In fact Fitz starts to sing again. Fitz posted:look with me, eye We cut back to shark and Fitz debriefing. Like before shark knows the job wasn't done but seems to want to get Fitz to admit it first. : Hey how'd the job go? : Oh you know; started it and it went on, you know? : You didn't do it, did you : No, no I did it. : No no no no. Don't lie. Cause you didn't do it. : Did. : All right, then what was the job? : To do things. : For what? : Mo- : Don't say money. : Rubles. Barney Rubles Finally we're introduced to the dancing ghost. He's The New Guy.

I know people are firmly in the 'love it or hate it' camps, but I'm gonna level with you OP. The show is legitimately terrible and it's not ironic or some meta poo poo that people 'just don't get'. It's honestly just not good or funny on any level and people try to feel like they're on some next level comedy poo poo by fooling themselves into thinking it's funny. It is not. And no, the joke isn't 'lol you're mad that I think it's funny!'. It's a bad show and you'd be dumb to like it. Thank you.
