Yeah, I mean it was funny to watch Republicans get made fun of and Jon Stewart was pretty good with comedic timing and making goofy faces, but the humor was never particularly "interesting" from a political perspective (and sometimes it was outright terrible/harmful, like the dumb "rally to restore sanity" stuff).

I don't understand the ridicule. Kamala Harris is an African American, a woman one at that. She stated that she was for universal healthcare before during Q and As and no one believed that she was for a single payer plan. Now that she finally cosponsored a bill by Bernie Sanders ( aka the most popular WASP in politics) only then people will take her seriously on single payer? Looks fishy and is just filled with racial undertones.

Isn't Bernie like literally not a WASP? Like he does not fit the P in that acronym.

The reason people were/are skeptical is that Harris's history isn't exactly leftist and includes a bunch of questionable, if not outright bad, stuff. Because she doesn't have a history of reliably being in support of leftist causes, she isn't as reliable as someone who does. This is also the reason why most not-dumb leftists don't like Tulsi Gabbard much; aside from supporting Bernie and UHC there isn't really anything in her history indicating an ideological commitment to leftism (and there's a number of things that run directly contrary to it).

she tried to keep people who were ordered released in jail for cheap labor. it's gonna take a lot more than her cosponsoring a bill she knows won't pass for me to believe she actually cares about anyone but the rich and powerful

not really. the government only nominally represents the majority. in reality it reflects the very wealthy. the princeton study shows pretty clearly that the interests of the wealthy take great precedence over the interests of the masses.

it's a systemic problem. the conditions of capitalism invariably produce great inequities in economic power which then directly translates to great inequities in political power.

Their greatest mistake was probably calling the socialists "socialfascists", as instructed by the Komintern, until Hitler had a comfortable grip on power.

Which would be relevant today if the current analogical structure to the Komintern (that is disseminating the idea that socialists are the true enemies of progress) weren't bourgeoisie cliques that stand to gain from a fascist takeover.

tbf the german communists might have been reluctant to team up with the social democrats for other reasons, such as the mentioned social democrats teaming up with literal protofascists to repress and slaughter communists en masse not twenty years beforehand.

the article literally doesn't mention his views or positions at all, wtf

it talks about his endorsements and says he refuses to talk bad about Trump, but doesn't say anything about what he prefers to talk about instead. and since he'd be getting big sloppy editorial blowjobs from Politico if he was a Ossoff-style tax cutter, let's do some Googling...

he opposes tax cuts, supports raising the minimum wage to a living wage, wants more education funding, opposes charter schools, wants to make equal pay for women mandatory, believes all Americans have a right to healthcare, and openly calls out "states rights" arguments for healthcare as the bullshit they are

yeah, I'm sure the Dems are just staying out of that race for his own good. nothing to do with his views being to the left of the Democratic party

the Tea Party was in full swing at the time, and the left was starting to get mad at the ACA, Obama's austerity efforts, and various other betrayals
