Ace of Baes posted:The old daily shows whole thing was cutting clips of Republicans arguing with themselves and making stupid jokes, it was alright and the options for political comedy on the were pretty sparse. Yeah, I mean it was funny to watch Republicans get made fun of and Jon Stewart was pretty good with comedic timing and making goofy faces, but the humor was never particularly "interesting" from a political perspective (and sometimes it was outright terrible/harmful, like the dumb "rally to restore sanity" stuff). punk rebel ecks posted:I don't understand the ridicule. Kamala Harris is an African American, a woman one at that. She stated that she was for universal healthcare before during Q and As and no one believed that she was for a single payer plan. Now that she finally cosponsored a bill by Bernie Sanders ( aka the most popular WASP in politics) only then people will take her seriously on single payer? Looks fishy and is just filled with racial undertones. Isn't Bernie like literally not a WASP? Like he does not fit the P in that acronym. The reason people were/are skeptical is that Harris's history isn't exactly leftist and includes a bunch of questionable, if not outright bad, stuff. Because she doesn't have a history of reliably being in support of leftist causes, she isn't as reliable as someone who does. This is also the reason why most not-dumb leftists don't like Tulsi Gabbard much; aside from supporting Bernie and UHC there isn't really anything in her history indicating an ideological commitment to leftism (and there's a number of things that run directly contrary to it). Their greatest mistake was probably calling the socialists "socialfascists", as instructed by the Komintern, until Hitler had a comfortable grip on power. Which would be relevant today if the current analogical structure to the Komintern (that is disseminating the idea that socialists are the true enemies of progress) weren't bourgeoisie cliques that stand to gain from a fascist takeover. steinrokkan has issued a correction as of 08:26 on Sep 1, 2017 |

John Stewart: “But, as always in these debates, it’s left to the longest shot to say the craziest thing.
