Imagine how difficult caring for a dog would be if you didn't know anything about dogs, none of your friends and family did, you couldn't find a vet that worked on them, and dog information online was like four amateur websites. Rabbits are significantly less work than a dog, but people have been raising them wrong for decades. Exactly this. Rabbits are seen as boring, shy animals because they tend to be left outside in hutches without as much regular interaction as a dog or a cat. After my rabbit caught Wry neck and was moved inside he seemed like a totally different animal because people were around him all the time. Ours would grunt, and he loved grinding his teeth when he was happy, but never really honked. Turns out it's cute! Miss my guy (kidney disease is a motherfucker); now that my wife and I have fully internalized the whole "ya need 2 of most pet types for them to be happy", I don't know if we'll ever be able to switch back off of having 2x cats, but hopefully we'll find the time/energy one day and get back into bunnies too.

 I have a tortoise and he does this with my other pets!  Turbo (Original name: Fred - but I started calling him Turbo when I was 7 and the name has since stuck with everyone) was found by my grandad wandering the street sometime in the early 50's. We think he's in his 70/80's somewhere. He has two hols drilled in the back of his shell that would have been where a chain was attached. He's worn through both of them.  Bentley has never been able to figure the moving rock out.  He'll sit ant watch him for ages. Up until Turbo wanders up and snaps at his paws.
