I think Heathers is pretty ripe for a remake, since a lot of its eighties setting is pretty dated which is esp clashing for something leaning on something that leans on being trendy. But its also such a loving weird and idiosyncratic thing that you can't possibly just try to remake the individual scenes and dialogue, you're gonna have to change so much.

I like that the cool girls clique seems to include a boy now. I am surprised that they are making a film remake about killings at a high school. It was kind of outlandish in the 80's, now its a reality that it will possibly just come off as tasteless. I dunno. I won't likely ever see it the way I never bothered to see the Carrie remake, the Red Dawn remake, or so many other remakes of "classic" films.

Heathers is a weird property. I remember an article about how, even at the time, the actors were uncomfortable with a lot of the dialogue. The basic conceit became increasingly unpleasant in the aftermath of Columbine and other school shootings. Up through the late 1990s, there were talks of a sequel that involved Veronica moving to Washington D.C. and assassinating the president. Meryl Streep was apparently attached at one point. The television show has been in development since 2009. A musical adaptation premiered off-Broadway a few years ago and I still haven't been able to figure out who the target audience of that was. FWIW, I thought Destiny 1 was super underwhelming but the Destiny 2 beta was a lot more fun. It got me to pre-order the game and now I’m really looking forward to it

I guess they had to make Manji, the protagonist, actually be a good fighter in the movie. In the comics his only saving grace in an actual fight is the element of surprise. Otherwise he get chumped by just about everyone. At least in the first half of the entire run. I kind of fell off of the comic once I caught up to the Western releases years ago.

The trailer I saw had him lose his hand, and then get skewered, I think. The best part about Manji was he was a poo poo fighter and got by on being immortal. I agree.
