Good lord, I forgot that this is also around the time where pretty much everyone in TERRY BOLLEA'S extended family starts getting screen time. I'm sure if Ed Leslie was still around he would have also been getting a push. What's even worse is that I can't even hate on it that much because Hogan has been putting on the best matches of the last couple of shows somehow, and manages to have energetic promos and an actual consistent storyline besides the whole New Blood vs. Millionaires clusterfuck.

Upon rewatching the 98 Nitros (about 2 years ago). I did not realize how there were somehow not enough nWo members to do a proper faction split. So we got Nash and Savage on one side. And Hall. No, not Hall. He's off television because he's a wreck and also there are at the moment 4 marketable nWo members and you have 2 of them already. Whoops Savage got hurt. So this is just Nash vs. Hogan huh? So let's split up the midcarders. Syxx? He just left. Konnan? Ok, you can have Konnan. Scott Steiner? He just turned heel and joined the nWo. Having him turn again doesn't make any sense. Bagwell? Steiner needs him. Curt Henning? He didn't turn that long ago, also he doesn't really fit in the 'cool' nWo mold. Rude? He doesn't wrestle. Also Henning needs him. Norton? He's not here half the time and when he is here we can't actually do anything interesting with him because AJPW will get mad if we book him wrong. Vincent? He's a toadie. Bryan Adams? He just got here, doesn't make any sense to turn him. Micheal Wallstreet? He's not wrestling right now and even if he was he absolutely doesn't work in the role. So we get Konnan and that's it? Yeah wow poo poo we didn't think this through. I guess we gotta get non-nWo guys. Sting and Luger arn't doing anything are they? No. Because Sting's run as champ got hosed. Great, you got Sting and Luger. Congrats. Go Wolfpac. Can we get some more jabronis? Konnan is lonely. No. Not even Big Bubba Rogers, he'd be a surprisingly good fit here. He's gone. Ok, the nWo has Scott Steiner, can we AT LEAST get Rick Steiner? No. You could use the opportunity to elevate some of the young talent we have. Right now the Wolfpac is all 40 year old men trying to be young, hip and fresh, you could use some youth. You know what? 4 is good. We'll make this work.

To my perception the Wolfpac wasn't watered down enough. It wasn't even the nWo. Nash and Konnan just got pissed off and left the nWo and instead of turning the shirts in they put them in the wash with the reds. Half the stable was guys who were basically the antithesis of the nWo. It was like if Arn, Sid, Sting and Paul Roma reformed the Horsemen.

Norton was never going to work as well in the US as he did in Japan so his nWo role was fine, although Cat beating him was unforgivable. The Wolfpac was very successful and over and was fine. Ideally the nWo vs nWo feud should've kept Hogan out of the main events but in big matches to set up his feud with Nash while Goldberg got important singles matches.
