A while back, someone asked 'hey, do you remember what happened in June' and I was struggling to remember. Remember March and the "wiretapp" tweet against Obama? DOJ officially called it horseshit in a court filing yesterday. https://twitter.com/DavidWright_CNN/status/904053647163699201 Edit: https://twitter.com/RicFlairNatrBoy/status/904045165584818176 facialimpediment fucked around with this message at 21:49 on Sep 2, 2017 |

In case you missed this week's episode of Cops Behaving Badly, woooo is it a doozy. SLC PD Detective arrests nurse for obstruction, because she won't let him do a blood draw on an unconscious patient without a warrant... and legally, she's in the right. I'm trying to imagine the face of the Internal Affairs investigator and department lawyers as they're watching the body cam, and this is the best I can come up with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ariCK3WXIcQ&t=162s "Okay, Jeff, can you explain to me one more time the part where you decided to put a nurse in handcuffs in a hospital based on a ten year old understanding of implied consent?"

Yeah they were trying to get blood from a man who was seriously injured when someone they were chasing crashed into him on the freeway. There was zero justification for the attempted draw other than to try to mitigate fault for critically injuring him in the first place.

From what I understand they weren't supposed to be pursuing the guy they were chasing at high speeds through the area they were in. So an accident happened that shouldn't have happened that they are responsible for, so they were trying to get blood from the other guy so they can say that "Hey this guy was high/drunk and brought it on himself."

It's just unfathomable a cop would do that to a nurse. Nurses have such strict standards for following hospital guidelines and it's so easy for them to lose their license by just doing a tiny thing wrong. That nurse was doing exactly what she was supposed to do. I hope that guy loses his job.

The truly infuriating thing wasn't even what the officer did: Its that there were 3 other officers there who, at any time, could've said "I think we need to call a supervisor and figure this situation out, because we don't have a warrant nor is he a suspect" Nope, they just followed orders and roughed up a nurse standing up for her patient. That's the even more infurating part, the body cam video shows their LT show up and scold the nurse (while she's cuffed in the car) for saying "no no no" while she continues to tell them that's not what she said.As Nero Danced posted:Wasn't she on the phone with the dickhead's superior explaining why she wasn't doing what they wanted?

Hospitals have great cameras in case someone tries to bring malpractice suits. CommieGIR fucked around with this message at 03:43 on Sep 3, 2017 |
