Mr. Sanders’s wife, Jane, said in an interview that he had not ruled out running again and had remained active, traveling and advocating policies that help working-class people. “Ageism is the last ‘ism’ that seems to be acceptable to people, and I never felt that it was whether somebody was too young or too old,” Ms. Sanders said. “You win some. You lose some. And you keep on going and maybe you can win the next one.”

I can already see Kamala and Hillary teaming up on Bernie during a debate with "why don't you or your supporters want to see a woman president?" and it's going to be worse than 2016

If Bernie won the nomination, how many Hillary supporters would stay home for the general out of spite?

Nah they won't do that.

The moderator will deffo ask Bernie about "concerns" that he seems to keep running against women, tho.

Judging from the fact of how they talk about Antifa, they'd likely stay home because they wouldn't see any difference between Trump and Sanders.

this kind of stuff worries me, although it's only twitter there's still like 10x the vitriol toward bernie these days than even at the peak of primary season. even if you're looking at 1-2% of the dem base staying home, that could easily tilt a close election. ideally i'd like to see a candidate win that everyone can at least get behind without thinking they're a fundamentally terrible person, but i'm not sure such a person exists so welp

this is reasonable iff you take as an inherent assumption that the amount of people who voted for hillary in 2016 is the maximum amount of voters the candidate in 2020 could get

well even at best, that depends how many nonvoters you're getting vs. how many people you're losing. if it's a wash it might mean you lose (depending on where they live). i just think the best possible candidate is one without a built-in hate club in the party, but it seems like things are getting worse these days on that front.
