Alright. So I stopped checking this thread for like a year and a half because I forgot.  Over the past couple of weeks I've been binging on it.  And I have a few things to say...  Fan art is good.  Fan art is wonderful.  You are wonderful.  Say Nothing, I admire your dedication to including at least one piece of borderline-porn in your posts.  Dark_Titsanime, great to see you still around.  And Captain Invictus is without question the hero this thread deserves.  I mean, you got me around to finally playing Undertale, and you knowwww, even with every character/twist/joke spoiled by the fan art?  It's still the best Touhou game ever made.

IIRC, Muffet is also a backer OC in Undertale, just she wasn't entirely cringeworthy so she's worked into the plot and structure just fine. These games need to have more 'If you're a total dick we reserve the rights to tell you to gently caress off and keep your money' clauses for these crowdfunded projects, there's a few I've heard of that fell apart because of insufferable whales, usually with special snowflake OCs and often insisting on trying to work their fetishes into the game.

Well, on the one hand, if you are trying to make a game and you have to reach out to the general public for funding, and you offer a top tier incentive such as adding your OC to the game, you may have to carefully decide if the money is worth the headache of catering to someone's fetish. If you need $10k to finish your game and you can get it from one source guaranteed, you may make that deal. On the other hand, I do hope that this will start a trend of indie developers that will be able to put an asterisk next to incentives such as this that include wording to the effect of "Creator reserves the right to refuse any submission that they find offensive". But again, the problem with that is at that point, the money is effectively spent. I don't know if it would even be possible to refund it to the weirdo with the diaper fetish. So you're kind of stuck, and since these rewards tend to be on the higher end of the scale, that could be a large percentage of your funding. And even if you did explicitly word with the above "dick clause", not giving someone the thing they paid for is bad press at the very least. But I would support it.

This is the fight, it's pretty cleverly done and has good music(just like all the other music in the game), and he doesn't really look like a dragon or whatever at all. More like an anteater or something. So Sorry was overblown by a massive amount. Like I said, it was still inappropriate, but he did personally ask that the character be as hidden away as possible, and it's not that hugely disturbing of a fetish to begin with, nor is it at all evident in game, so you'd have to go out of your way to look through the dude's FurAffinity to realize the character's vaguely sexual origin. There was like, never any animosity at all between him and the dude who made the game. More than anything it's just boring, I guess. Boomerang guy is a crazy rear end in a top hat and that makes his insertions and general existence interesting to talk about.

Surely someone else would have taken that detonator tier sooner or later and put something cool in the game given the huge wave of popularity the game hit.

Besides So Sorry, because I barely see how that even applies, give me other, real examples, of a backer fetish tanking a project? I think there was some kind of Killer Instinct spiritual successor and all the backer monsters are huge diaper gorillas or whatever, but more! Give me more backer ruined kickstarters! What I meant was more that if Diaper McFetish bought the "put my OC in the game" for 10 grand, and then the creator said no, does he have to return the money? The 10 grand was already donated, so unless the goal was surpassed by that same 10 grand, does the project fail?
