Maybe because along with being involved with right/left Twitter wars, they also get swept into nationalist/unionist Twitter fights?

I'd be really curious how they define abusive tweets because MPs themselves have been claiming "twitter guy telling me my politics are poo poo" as abuse for a while now

I've not read the full thing but the researchers said that because deleted / suspended tweets can't be accessed they assume their figures are an understatement https://medium.com/@AmnestyInsights/unsocial-media-tracking-twitter-abuse-against-women-mps-fc28aeca498a

so i'm not a statistics researcher but

quote:

The true positive rate, i.e. the tweets labelled as abusive by the model that are truly abusive,
is around 64%. The remaining tweets are false positives, i.e. not truly abusive. This means
that we expect the number of truly abusive tweets within the 25,688 tweets to be 16,440 (=
0.64 X 25,688 ).
However, a large number of abusive tweets are not captured by the model. Only about 44%
of truly abusive tweets are detected and the rest are false negatives, i.e. tweets not labelled
as abusive but are truly abusive. This means that our estimate of the actual number of
abusive tweets out of the 900 223 total number of tweets is around 37 364 truly abusive
tweets (= 16,440 / 0.44)). For the purpose of this publication, we have used the 25,688 figure.

their methodology seems to have returned some really useless data, which they used anyway? idk

the numbers aren't useless if you assume that the rate of false positives and false negatives is consistent regardless of targeted MP, that is, that the methodology is equally likely to correctly identify abusive tweets directed at an SNP MP as one directed at a Labour MP. the goal is to make a comparison, not a comprehensive survey of all bad tweets made at MPs

Just googling around, it seems like he's never actually confirmed or denied anything, so I dunno why you're so certain. Like, he just says it's a private affair here: http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2015/12/21/jeremy-corbyn-denies-atheist-religious-beliefs_n_8855528.html

there's no way corbyn is a religious man

e/ the reason he doesnt say anything is because he knows it will be a load of bullshit if he tells people that he does not believe in god

he genuinely respects faiths, their history and the positive impacts they can have on people.

but the man clearly has no respect for the dogma of religious institutions that have hamstrung humanity for thousands of years.

thinking about it i wouldnt be surprised if he was a quaker

No, not really. There's a rich tradition of Christian socialism in the history of the Labour Party that exists to this day.
