This thread just loves to circle the wagons whenever it can around horrible people destroying our world because it gives the posting-is-war faction a great chance to be morally superior by declaring they're above gloating about Scalia's death or whatever.

I really hope its wrong, but it seems a little odd that he turns up dead as soon as Eric got the full boot. Or, you know, the kid was depressed due to his piece of poo poo father and as the full extent of his dad's shittyness was revealed it push him over the edge. Or a hundred other more likely scenarios.... I mean, family drama and depression is a really loving common cause of suicide. And with a dad like that the kid should have had ample reasons for both depression and family drama. Really lovely behavior that people seemingly celebrate the suicide of an unknown kid because it might make his awful dad feel bad.

PpppThe Socialists have said it and repeated it unwearyingly. Daily they reiterate it, demonstrating it by arguments taken from all the sciences. It is because all that is necessary for production — the land, the mines, the highways, machinery, food, shelter, education, knowledge — all have been seized by the few in the course of that long story of robbery, enforced migration and wars, of ignorance and oppression, which has been the life of the human race before it had learned to subdue the forces of Nature

I don't know what's scariest about Trump maybe realizing his current path is wrong and that he needs to change up strategies: * That Trump may actually get terrible legislation passed because he stops being a burden or distraction * That Trump encourages Democrats to split when he offers Dems a bunch of what they want on healthcare and infrastructure in exchange for them letting him gently caress up minorities * That this thread will continue to be terrible, unfunny stupidity from people overly convinced of their correctness and moral invincibility because we don't have Trump antics to react to Trabisnikof, shut up, you're being an rear end in a top hat, and the best defense you can come up with is "why is it bad to be an rear end in a top hat to assholes" which is a stupid argument, because it means you're still an rear end in a top hat

The idea that we have to be polite to Republicans and Nazis lest we become just as bad as them is nothing more than another kind of social conservatism, demanding we play by their rules of acceptable discourse or else.quote:“Being mean” is an interesting aversion for an impertinently revolutionary magazine that sells posters of guillotines and regularly invokes the specter of Soviet communism. Are not guillotines a bit—dare I say—“mean?”

Part of it is that I think Bannon had the right idea (on strategy, to be clear) - if Trump had started out by pushing Congress for populist infrastructure spending (actual spending, not the stupid "rent it to rich companies" plan they detailed) and populist tax reform (with serious soak-the-rich rate raises Bannon was arguing for) I think Trump could have forged a real coalition between GOPers terrified of openly opposing Trump and Democrats willing to jump ship because they saw Trump as an on a winning path. I don't think he could pull it off well if he tried now, but the Democratic Party is already on the verge of falling apart; but I think if Trump's advisors were smart, they'd throw out a policy idea that Democrats support to let the party tear itself to pieces between those who will work with anyone to get progressive legislation passed vs. those who won't want to be seen as supporting Trump vs. those who actually want to throw minorities out of the party so that "economic issues" can be on the forefront.
